أكد مسؤول بالسفارة الأمريكية في الرياض أن الولايات المتحدة تستعد لاستقبال بطولة كأس العالم 2026 التي تُعد الأكبر في تاريخ كرة القدم، بمشاركة 48 منتخبًا، وإقامة 104 مباريات، ضمن استضافة مشتركة تجمع الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك.
وأوضح المسؤول أن الولايات المتحدة ستستضيف 78 مباراة من أصل 104 مباريات، بما في ذلك مباريات نصف النهائي والمباراة النهائية، في 11 مدينة أمريكية عالمية المستوى، مشيرًا إلى أن عام 2026 يحمل أهمية خاصة للولايات المتحدة، إذ تتزامن البطولة مع الذكرى الـ250 لتأسيس البلاد.
وأضاف أن كأس العالم 2026 تمثل نموذجًا للشراكة الدولية، إذ تُقام للمرة الأولى بتنظيم مشترك بين ثلاث دول، في خطوة تعكس متانة الشراكات الأمريكية في نصف الكرة الغربي، وحرص واشنطن على تعزيز التعاون متعدد الأطراف.
وأشار إلى أن الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك نسقت جهودها عن قرب في مجالات السلامة والخدمات اللوجستية والضيافة، بما يجسد قدرة الدول على تحقيق النجاح من خلال العمل المشترك، مؤكدًا أن مشاركة المنتخبات والجماهير من مختلف أنحاء العالم تجعل البطولة تجسيدًا حيًا لانخراط الولايات المتحدة مع المجتمع الدولي.
وفي ما يتعلق بتسهيل حضور الجماهير، قال المسؤول إن الإدارة الأمريكية أطلقت برنامج FIFA PASS، وهو نظام مخصص لمنح أولوية في مواعيد التأشيرات، بحيث يكون لكل حامل تذكرة لحضور مباريات كرة القدم ممن يحتاجون إلى تأشيرة أمريكية مسار واضح وميسر للحضور.
ولفت إلى أن وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية دفعت بأكثر من 500 موظف قنصلي إضافي حول العالم، لمعالجة طلبات التأشيرات المرتبطة بالبطولة، مع المحافظة على أعلى المعايير الأمنية، مبينًا أنه في أكثر من 80% من الدول بات بإمكان المشجعين تحديد مواعيد مقابلات تأشيرة الزيارة للولايات المتحدة خلال أقل من 60 يومًا.
وتوقع المسؤول أن تستقبل الولايات المتحدة ما بين 5 و7 ملايين زائر دولي خلال البطولة، داعيًا الجماهير إلى اكتشاف التنوع الواسع الذي تزخر به الولايات المتحدة، من ميامي إلى سياتل، ومن بوسطن إلى لوس أنجلوس.
وشدد على أن سلامة المشجعين تمثل أولوية للولايات المتحدة، موضحًا أن جميع مباريات كأس العالم 2026 في الولايات المتحدة صُنفت ضمن أعلى مستويات تقييم الفعاليات الخاصة لدى وزارة الأمن الداخلي الأمريكية، مع تخصيص أكثر من 1.23 مليار دولار لدعم العمليات الأمنية وشبكات النقل العام وأجهزة إنفاذ القانون في المدن المستضيفة.
وختم المسؤول بالتأكيد أن بطولة كأس العالم 2026 تدشن ما تصفه الولايات المتحدة بـ«العقد الذهبي للرياضة»، في ظل استضافتها عددًا من الأحداث الرياضية الدولية الكبرى، من بينها دورة الألعاب الأولمبية الصيفية 2028 في لوس أنجلوس.

He added that the 2026 World Cup represents a model of international partnership, as it will be held for the first time under a joint organization between three countries, a step that reflects the strength of American partnerships in the Western Hemisphere and Washington's commitment to enhancing multilateral cooperation.
He pointed out that the United States, Canada, and Mexico have closely coordinated their efforts in areas of safety, logistics, and hospitality, demonstrating the countries' ability to achieve success through joint work, emphasizing that the participation of teams and fans from around the world makes the tournament a living embodiment of the United States' engagement with the international community.
Regarding facilitating fan attendance, the official stated that the U.S. administration has launched the FIFA PASS program, a system designed to prioritize visa appointment scheduling, ensuring that every ticket holder for the football matches who needs a U.S. visa has a clear and streamlined path to attendance.
He noted that the U.S. Department of State has deployed over 500 additional consular staff worldwide to process visa applications related to the tournament, while maintaining the highest security standards, indicating that in more than 80% of countries, fans can schedule U.S. visitor visa interviews in less than 60 days.
The official anticipated that the United States will welcome between 5 and 7 million international visitors during the tournament, urging fans to explore the wide diversity that the United States has to offer, from Miami to Seattle, and from Boston to Los Angeles.
He emphasized that fan safety is a priority for the United States, explaining that all 2026 World Cup matches in the United States have been classified at the highest levels of special event assessment by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, with more than $1.23 billion allocated to support security operations, public transportation networks, and law enforcement agencies in the host cities.
The official concluded by affirming that the 2026 World Cup marks the beginning of what the United States describes as the "golden decade of sports," as it prepares to host a number of major international sporting events, including the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
