هزت فضيحة جنسية مدوية أوساط كرة القدم الإنجليزية، بعدما اتُهم الملياردير ديفيد سوليفان، المالك المشارك لنادي وست هام يونايتد، باستغلال جنسي لعدد من النساء، بعضهن كنَّ في سن المراهقة، خلال فترة عمله رئيساً لمجموعة صحف.

وبحسب التحقيق الذي أجرته هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية BBC وصحيفة «The Times»، قالت النساء إن سوليفان استغل مكانته ونفوذه في قطاع الإعلام والصحف الشعبية خلال الفترة الممتدة من ثمانينيات القرن الماضي وحتى مطلع الألفية الجديدة، من أجل الضغط عليهن أو استدراجهن إلى علاقات جنسية مقابل فرص مهنية أو الظهور في الصحف التي كان يديرها.

وذكرت بعض الشهادات أن الوقائع المزعومة حدثت عندما كانت المشتكيات في سن المراهقة أو في بدايات العشرينيات من العمر، فيما تحدثت أخريات عن استغلال واضح لفارق النفوذ والسلطة بين صاحب المؤسسة الإعلامية والباحثات عن فرصة عمل في مجال عرض الأزياء والنشر.

استقالة مفاجئة

وجاءت هذه الاتهامات بالتزامن مع إعلان سوليفان استقالته من منصبه رئيساً مشاركاً وعضو مجلس إدارة نادي وست هام يونايتد، بعد أكثر من 16 عاماً في قيادة النادي اللندني. وأوضح النادي أن الاستقالة جاءت بعد إبلاغه بقرب نشر «اتهامات تاريخية خطيرة» بحق مالكه المشارك.

من جانبه، نفى سوليفان جميع الاتهامات بشكل قاطع، واصفاً إياها بأنها «كاذبة تماماً ومبالغ فيها»، مؤكداً عزمه اتخاذ إجراءات قانونية ضد الجهات الإعلامية التي نشرتها، كما شدد على أن أياً من هذه المزاعم لا يتعلق بإدارته لنادي وست هام أو أنشطته الكروية.
