أعلن زعيم التيار الصدري مقتدى الصدر، (الأربعاء)، حل لواء «اليوم الموعود»، وتحويل «جيش الإمام المهدي» إلى مؤسسة «أنصار المهدي»، في خطوة تتزامن مع تصاعد الجدل في العراق بشأن حصر السلاح بيد الدولة ومستقبل الفصائل المسلحة بعد رحيل القوات الدولية.

وقال الصدر في بيان إن «حصر السلاح بيد الدولة ببرنامج علني ومدروس، يحقق نتائج واقعية ملموسة ومرضية للشعب والمرجعية»، داعياً القوى السياسية إلى إجراء التعديلات اللازمة، وإعطاء الأولوية للعمل السياسي، وفتح المجال أمام وجوه جديدة للعمل على إنهاء الفساد وتحقيق الإصلاح.

وشدد على ضرورة تعزيز القوات الأمنية بمختلف صنوفها وتفعيلها، ولا سيما حرس الحدود، محذراً في الوقت ذاته الولايات المتحدة ودول الجوار من التدخل في الشؤون العراقية، لما قد يترتب عليه، بحسب تعبيره، من قطع للعلاقات والتعامل بالمثل.

في المقابل، رفض فصيل «أصحاب الكهف» الدعوات إلى حصر السلاح بيد الدولة، واعتبرها «أوهاماً يحلم بها الضعفاء والأذلاء»، متوعداً بالرد على أي محاولة تستهدف عناصره أو سلاحه.

وقال الفصيل في بيان إن أي وجود أجنبي، برياً أو جوياً، سيواجه «رداً عسكرياً»، مضيفاً أن إخراج العراق من «محور المقاومة»، مؤكداً تبعيته لإيران وأنه سيهاجم أي دولة تستهدف إيران.

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced on Wednesday the dissolution of the "Awaited Day Brigade" and the transformation of the "Mahdi Army" into the "Supporters of the Mahdi" organization, in a move that coincides with the rising debate in Iraq regarding the monopolization of weapons by the state and the future of armed factions following the departure of international forces.

Al-Sadr stated in a statement that "the monopolization of weapons by the state through a public and studied program achieves tangible and satisfactory results for the people and the religious authority," calling on political forces to make the necessary amendments, prioritize political work, and open the door for new faces to work on ending corruption and achieving reform.

He emphasized the need to strengthen the security forces of all kinds and activate them, particularly the border guards, while warning the United States and neighboring countries against intervening in Iraqi affairs, as this could lead, in his words, to severing relations and reciprocal actions.

In contrast, the "Cave Dwellers" faction rejected calls to monopolize weapons by the state, considering them "illusions dreamed of by the weak and the humiliated," threatening to respond to any attempt targeting its members or weapons.

The faction stated in a statement that any foreign presence, whether ground or aerial, would face a "military response," adding that removing Iraq from the "Axis of Resistance" confirms its allegiance to Iran and that it will attack any country targeting Iran.
