واصل حريق غابات واسع في منطقة أرغانيل بوسط البرتغال انتشاره، مهدداً ثلاث قرى، فيما أصيب ثلاثة من رجال الإطفاء خلال عمليات مكافحة النيران، وسط حشد مئات العناصر والآليات للسيطرة على الحريق.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء البرتغالية «لوسا» عن قائد القيادة دون الإقليمية للحماية المدنية في منطقة كويمبرا كارلوس تافاريس قوله إن الحريق كان «عنيفاً جداً»، وإن النيران واصلت تقدمها في ظل الرياح وطبيعة التضاريس، فيما وضعت السلطات حماية السكان والمنازل في مقدمة أولوياتها.
ثلاث قرى في مسار النيران
وأفادت الحماية المدنية بأن ثلاث قرى في المنطقة الواقعة بين أرغانيل وغويش أصبحت في مسار النيران، بعدما أدى التحام حرائق اندلعت في مناطق متقاربة إلى زيادة شدة الحريق وصعوبة عمليات مكافحته.
وواجهت فرق الإطفاء ظروفاً صعبة بسبب طبيعة المنطقة وكثافة أشجار الأوكالبتوس والصنوبر والأحراش، إضافة إلى الرياح التي ساعدت على انتشار النيران.
إصابة 3 إطفائيين
وأصيب ثلاثة من رجال الإطفاء خلال عمليات المكافحة، بينهم قائد فرقة الإطفاء في أرغانيل، الذي نُقل إلى المستشفى بعد تعرضه لحادث أثناء العمليات، فيما وُصفت الإصابات بأنها طفيفة.
وبحسب وسائل إعلام برتغالية، تعرض اثنان من المصابين لاستنشاق الدخان، فيما أصيب قائد إطفاء أرغانيل بعد أن صدمته مركبة خلال مناورات مرتبطة بعمليات مكافحة الحريق.
مئات العناصر لمواجهة الحريق
وحشدت السلطات مئات من عناصر الإطفاء ومئات الآليات لمواجهة النيران، فيما تجاوز عدد المشاركين في عمليات المكافحة لاحقاً 800 عنصر، مدعومين بأكثر من 250 آلية، إضافة إلى وسائل جوية قبل حلول الليل.
وأفادت تقارير برتغالية خلال الساعات الأولى من صباح اليوم (الأحد) بأن انخفاض درجات الحرارة وارتفاع نسبة الرطوبة ساهما في جعل الحريق أقل شراسة، مع استمرار عمليات احتواء محيطه ومحاولات السيطرة عليه.

Three Villages in the Path of the Flames
Civil protection reported that three villages in the area between Arganil and Gois are now in the path of the flames, after the merging of fires that broke out in close proximity increased the intensity of the fire and complicated firefighting efforts.
Firefighting teams faced difficult conditions due to the nature of the area and the density of eucalyptus and pine trees, as well as underbrush, in addition to the winds that aided the spread of the flames.
Injury of 3 Firefighters
Three firefighters were injured during the firefighting operations, including the commander of the firefighting team in Arganil, who was transported to the hospital after being involved in an accident during the operations, with injuries described as minor.
According to Portuguese media, two of the injured suffered from smoke inhalation, while the commander of Arganil's firefighting team was struck by a vehicle during maneuvers related to firefighting operations.
Hundreds of Personnel to Combat the Fire
Authorities mobilized hundreds of firefighters and hundreds of vehicles to combat the flames, with the number of participants in the firefighting efforts later exceeding 800 personnel, supported by more than 250 vehicles, in addition to aerial resources before nightfall.
Portuguese reports in the early hours of this morning (Sunday) indicated that the drop in temperatures and the increase in humidity contributed to making the fire less fierce, while containment efforts around it and attempts to control it continued.
