رد حسام حسن، المدير الفني لمنتخب مصر، على الانتقادات التي طالته عقب الخسارة أمام منتخب السنغال في نصف نهائي بطولة كأس الأمم الأفريقية 2025 المقامة حاليًا في المغرب، موضحًا المقصود بتصريحاته التي أكد خلالها أن مصر هي «أم أفريقيا والعرب».

وقال حسام حسن خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عقده اليوم (الجمعة)، استعداداً لمباراة تحديد المركز الثالث أمام نيجيريا المقررة غداً السبت، «أود أن أوضح للجميع ما قصدته بالضبط عندما تحدثت عن مصر كـ«أم أفريقيا والعرب»، كنت أتحدث عن تاريخ منتخب مصر في كأس الأمم الأفريقية، وعن الدور التاريخي الذي لعبته مصر في القارة».

وأضاف المدير الفني للمنتخب المصري، أنه كان يقصد بحديثه الدعم الذي كان يقدمه الشعب المصري دائماً لأي منتخب عربي في كأس العالم أو في أي بطولة كبرى، قائلا: «نحن ندعم الجميع، وهذا هو المعنى الذي أردت إيصاله، ولم أقصد به أي معنى آخر أو أي نوع من التعالي أو التقليل من أي منتخب آخر».

وتابع المدير الفني للفراعنة: «نحن نعمل حالياً بأقل عدد ممكن من اللاعبين المحترفين مقارنة بباقي المنتخبات الكبرى المشاركة في البطولة، الجميع شاهد عدد المحترفين في منتخبات مثل السنغال والمغرب والجزائر ونيجيريا وغيرها، بينما نحن ما زلنا في مرحلة بناء منتخب جديد يعتمد على مزيج من الخبرات والشباب».

وأضاف حسام حسن قائلاً: «نحن في مرحلة بناء حقيقية، وأتمنى بل وأعمل من أجل أن نشاهد في الفترة القادمة عدداً أكبر بكثير من اللاعبين المصريين المحترفين في الدوريات الأوروبية الكبرى، هذا هو السبيل الوحيد لتطوير المنتخب والمنافسة بقوة على الألقاب القارية والعالمية في المستقبل».

وكان المنتخب المصري خسر مباراة نصف نهائي كأس الأمم الأفريقية التي أقيمت الأربعاء الماضي، أمام السنغال بهدف لمنتخب السنغالي أحرزه ساديو ماني.

وأطلق حسام حسن تصريحه عقب المباراة «مصر أم أفريقيا والعرب» مما أثار انتقادات من بعض الجماهير والإعلام في دول أفريقية وعربية اعتبرت الكلام نوعاً من التعالي.

ويختتم منتخب مصر الأول لكرة القدم، اليوم (الجمعة)، استعداداته لمواجهة نظيره النيجيري، في لقاء تحديد الفريق صاحب المركز الثالث في بطولة أمم أفريقيا 2025، المقامة حاليًّا في المغرب.

وتقام مباراة منتخب مصر ضد نيجيريا غدا (السبت) الموافق 17 يناير، وتنطلق صافرتها في الـ6 مساء بتوقيت القاهرة.

Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, responded to the criticisms he faced following the loss to the Senegal national team in the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 currently taking place in Morocco, clarifying the meaning behind his statements in which he asserted that Egypt is the "Mother of Africa and the Arabs."

Hossam Hassan said during the press conference he held today (Friday), in preparation for the third-place match against Nigeria scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, "I would like to clarify to everyone what I exactly meant when I spoke about Egypt as the 'Mother of Africa and the Arabs.' I was talking about the history of the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations and the historical role that Egypt has played on the continent."

The head coach of the Egyptian team added that he meant by his remarks the support that the Egyptian people have always provided to any Arab team in the World Cup or any major tournament, saying: "We support everyone, and that is the meaning I wanted to convey. I did not intend any other meaning or any kind of arrogance or belittling of any other team."

The Pharaohs' head coach continued: "We are currently working with the smallest possible number of professional players compared to the other major teams participating in the tournament. Everyone has seen the number of professionals in teams like Senegal, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, and others, while we are still in the process of building a new team that relies on a mix of experience and youth."

Hossam Hassan added: "We are in a real building phase, and I hope, and I am working towards, seeing a much larger number of Egyptian players professional in the major European leagues in the coming period. This is the only way to develop the team and compete strongly for continental and global titles in the future."

The Egyptian national team lost the Africa Cup of Nations semifinal match that took place last Wednesday against Senegal, with a goal scored by Senegalese player Sadio Mane.

Hossam Hassan made his statement after the match, "Egypt is the Mother of Africa and the Arabs," which sparked criticism from some fans and media in African and Arab countries who considered the statement a form of arrogance.

The Egyptian national football team is concluding its preparations today (Friday) for facing its Nigerian counterpart in the match to determine the team in third place in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, currently taking place in Morocco.

The match between Egypt and Nigeria will take place tomorrow (Saturday), January 17, and will kick off at 6 PM Cairo time.
