نقلت صحيفة وول ستريت جورنال عن المتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض، كارولين ليفيت، أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لم يتخذ بعد قراره النهائي بشأن إيران، في ظل تطورات الاحتجاجات التي شهدتها البلاد أواخر ديسمبر الماضي.
وأكدت ليفيت أن ترمب لا يزال يُبقي جميع الخيارات مطروحة، مشيرة إلى أن أي خطوة قادمة ستكون منسجمة مع مصالح أمريكا والاستقرار الدولي.
تعزيزات عسكرية ترفع منسوب التوتر
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن أمريكا تستعد لإرسال حاملات طائرات قتالية، إضافة إلى طائرات مقاتلة وأنظمة دفاع صاروخي إلى المنطقة، في تحرك عسكري يوحي بإمكانية تصعيد سريع عقب اكتمال انتشار هذه القوات.
ترمب: قرار الهجوم بيدي وحدي
وفي رد على سؤال صحفي حول استمرار الدعم الأمريكي للمتظاهرين الإيرانيين، أكد ترمب أن قرار عدم إصدار أمر بتنفيذ ضربة عسكرية يعود إليه شخصيًا، نافياً وجود أي ضغوط خارجية أثّرت على موقفه.
تحذيرات عربية وإسرائيلية من توقيت غير مناسب
ونقلت وول ستريت جورنال عن مصادر أمريكية أن مسؤولين في إسرائيل وعدد من الدول العربية أبلغوا واشنطن بأن شن ضربة عسكرية على إيران في الوقت الراهن قد يكون خطوة غير محسوبة، في ظل حالة عدم الاستقرار الداخلي وتمكن السلطات الإيرانية من احتواء الاحتجاجات إلى حد كبير.
قنوات دبلوماسية لم تكتمل في دافوس
وفي سياق الجهود السياسية، أفادت الصحيفة بأن وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي حاول ترتيب لقاء مع المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف على هامش منتدى دافوس، بدعم من أطراف عربية وأوروبية، إلا أن هذه المساعي لم تُفضِ إلى عقد الاجتماع.
لا ضربات وشيكة.. وتطورات داخلية مؤثرة
وأكد ترمب في تصريحات من البيت الأبيض أنه لا توجد أي خطط وشيكة لضرب إيران، موضحًا أن قراره جاء بناءً على قناعة شخصية عقب تطورات وصفها بالمهمة داخل إيران. وقال: «لم يقنعني أحد، أنا أقنعت نفسي. كان هناك أكثر من 800 عملية إعدام مقررة، لكنهم ألغوها ولم تُنفذ».
مخاوف من حرب إقليمية شاملة
وخلصت الصحيفة إلى أن موقف ترمب من الخيار العسكري جاء بعد تحذيرات صريحة من حلفاء أمريكا في المنطقة من أن أي هجوم على إيران قد يؤدي إلى صراع إقليمي واسع، رغم جاهزية القيادات العسكرية الأمريكية لتنفيذ ضربة يوم الأربعاء الماضي، قبل أن يتم التراجع عن القرار في اللحظات الأخيرة.
قلق دولي من سيناريو التصعيد
وأضافت أن احتمال قصف إيران أثار مخاوف قادة عالميين، خشية أن يؤدي لجوء ترمب إلى ضربات جوية سريعة – على غرار ما حدث في فنزويلا – إلى إشعال نزاع طويل الأمد في الشرق الأوسط، من دون أن يحقق هدف إسقاط النظام الإيراني.
The Wall Street Journal reported that White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet made his final decision regarding Iran, amid developments in the protests that took place in the country in late December.
Levitt confirmed that Trump is still keeping all options on the table, noting that any forthcoming step will be consistent with America's interests and international stability.
Military Reinforcements Raise Tensions
The newspaper explained that America is preparing to send combat aircraft carriers, in addition to fighter jets and missile defense systems to the region, in a military move that suggests a possibility of rapid escalation following the deployment of these forces.
Trump: The Decision to Attack is Solely Mine
In response to a journalist's question about the continued U.S. support for Iranian protesters, Trump confirmed that the decision not to issue an order for a military strike is personally his, denying any external pressures that influenced his stance.
Arab and Israeli Warnings of an Inopportune Timing
The Wall Street Journal reported from American sources that officials in Israel and several Arab countries informed Washington that launching a military strike on Iran at this time could be an ill-considered step, given the internal instability and the Iranian authorities' ability to largely contain the protests.
Incomplete Diplomatic Channels in Davos
In the context of political efforts, the newspaper reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi attempted to arrange a meeting with U.S. envoy Steve Wittekov on the sidelines of the Davos Forum, supported by Arab and European parties, but these efforts did not lead to the meeting being held.
No Imminent Strikes... and Influential Internal Developments
Trump confirmed in statements from the White House that there are no imminent plans to strike Iran, explaining that his decision came based on personal conviction following developments he described as significant within Iran. He said, "No one convinced me; I convinced myself. There were more than 800 scheduled executions, but they were canceled and not carried out."
Concerns of a Comprehensive Regional War
The newspaper concluded that Trump's stance on the military option came after explicit warnings from America's allies in the region that any attack on Iran could lead to a wide regional conflict, despite the readiness of U.S. military leaders to execute a strike last Wednesday, before the decision was reversed at the last moment.
International Concern Over Escalation Scenarios
It added that the possibility of bombing Iran raised concerns among global leaders, fearing that Trump's resort to rapid airstrikes – similar to what happened in Venezuela – could ignite a long-term conflict in the Middle East, without achieving the goal of overthrowing the Iranian regime.
