أكد الشيخ سلمان بن إبراهيم آل خليفة رئيس الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم، أن بطولة كأس العالم 2026 التي تستضيفها الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك بداية من بعد غد الخميس حتى 19 يوليو القادم، ستكون «منارة قوية للوحدة» تجمع الجماهير والثقافات المتنوعة من مختلف أنحاء العالم.

وأعرب الشيخ سلمان عن دعمه الكامل لممثلي الاتحاد الآسيوي الذين يقفون على أعتاب كتابة فصل جديد في تاريخ الكرة القارية خلال المونديال، مشدداً على أن النسخة التاريخية بنظامها الجديد بمشاركة 48 منتخباً «تمهد الطريق أمام أكبر وأقوى تمثيل آسيوي في تاريخ البطولة».

8 منتخبات آسيوية تكتب التاريخ

ويتصدر هذه المسيرة التاريخية مزيج من القوى الراسخة والمنتخبات التي تسجل ظهورها الأول، حيث يحمل كل من الأردن وأوزبكستان فخر المشاركة الأولى، إلى جانب قطر، أستراليا، إيران، العراق، اليابان، كوريا الجنوبية، والسعودية.

وقال رئيس الاتحاد الآسيوي: «تستعد منتخباتنا ولاعبونا وحكامنا للظهور على أكبر مسرح في كرة القدم العالمية، مع توسع البطولة إلى 48 منتخباً عبر ثلاث دول مضيفة، أصبحت أسس النجاح الآسيوي أقوى من أي وقت مضى، وأصبحت قارتنا في وضع مثالي للارتقاء بمكانتها على الساحة العالمية».

وأضاف: «لقد أثبتت مسيرة منتخباتنا عبر التصفيات صلابتها وموهبتها الاستثنائية. والآن باتت المسؤولية تقع عليها لاغتنام هذه الفرصة في أمريكا الشمالية وتحقيق إنجاز تاريخي جديد غير مسبوق للكرة الآسيوية خارج القارة».

وختم الشيخ سلمان حديثه بحث ممثلي آسيا: «هذه لحظتكم لإظهار التقدم والوحدة والجودة التي لا يمكن إنكارها لكرة القدم الآسيوية. لقد منحتم مليارات الجماهير شعوراً هائلاً بالفخر.. أحثكم على اللعب بشجاعة والتمسك بقيم اللعب النظيف وكتابة فصل جديد وملهم لقارتنا».

وأعرب في ختام حديثه عن دعمه للفيفا والدول المضيفة واللجان المنظمة، متمنياً التوفيق في تنظيم النسخة التاريخية الموسعة.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the President of the Asian Football Confederation, confirmed that the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico starting this Thursday until July 19, will be "a strong beacon of unity" bringing together fans and diverse cultures from around the world.

Sheikh Salman expressed his full support for the representatives of the Asian Confederation who are on the brink of writing a new chapter in the history of continental football during the World Cup, emphasizing that this historic edition with its new format featuring 48 teams "paves the way for the largest and strongest Asian representation in the history of the tournament."

8 Asian teams make history

This historic journey is led by a mix of established powers and teams making their debut, with both Jordan and Uzbekistan proudly participating for the first time, alongside Qatar, Australia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

The Asian Football Confederation President stated: "Our teams, players, and referees are preparing to appear on the biggest stage in global football. With the tournament expanding to 48 teams across three host countries, the foundations for Asian success have never been stronger, and our continent is in an ideal position to elevate its status on the global stage."

He added: "The journey of our teams through the qualifiers has proven their resilience and exceptional talent. Now, the responsibility lies with them to seize this opportunity in North America and achieve a new unprecedented historic accomplishment for Asian football outside the continent."

Sheikh Salman concluded his remarks by urging the Asian representatives: "This is your moment to showcase the progress, unity, and undeniable quality of Asian football. You have given billions of fans an immense sense of pride... I urge you to play courageously, uphold the values of fair play, and write a new and inspiring chapter for our continent."

In closing, he expressed his support for FIFA, the host countries, and the organizing committees, wishing them success in organizing the expanded historic edition.
