حذّر بنك إنجلترا من تصاعد عمليات الاحتيال الإلكتروني التي تستغل تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي والمحتوى المفبرك للإيقاع بالمستخدمين، بعد انتشار مقاطع فيديو وصور مزيفة تُظهر مشادة حادة بين محافظ البنك أندرو بيلي وزعيم حزب «ريفورم يو كيه» نايجل فاراج خلال برنامج تلفزيوني.
وأوضح البنك أن المقاطع المتداولة على منصة «إكس» لا تمت للحقيقة بصلة، بل جرى تصميمها لخداع الجمهور ودفعه إلى مواقع إلكترونية تنتحل هوية هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية (BBC)، وتروّج لاستثمارات وهمية تزعم تحويل 250 جنيهاً إسترلينياً إلى مليون جنيه خلال 11 أسبوعاً فقط.
حملات احتيال متطورة
وأكد بنك إنجلترا أن هذه المواد تأتي ضمن حملات احتيال إلكتروني تعتمد على التلاعب بالمحتوى الإعلامي وتقنيات «التزييف العميق» (DeepFake)، بهدف استدراج الضحايا إلى عروض مالية غير حقيقية.
وشدد البنك على ضرورة التحقق من مصادر الأخبار والمعلومات قبل التفاعل معها، محذراً من الانسياق وراء أي عروض استثمارية تعد بعوائد ضخمة وسريعة بصورة غير واقعية.
«فيديوهات الشجار» مفبركة
وجاء التحذير بعد تداول مقاطع تظهر أندرو بيلي ونايجل فاراج في مشاجرة داخل استوديو برنامج «سؤال الساعة» على قناة BBC One، فيما أظهرت بعض النسخ المفبركة تدخل الشرطة للفصل بينهما، بل وادعت أخرى ظهور فاراج وهو يحمل سلاحاً أثناء الاشتباك.
ودعا محافظ بنك إنجلترا الجمهور إلى الإبلاغ عن هذه المقاطع والمحتويات المزيفة للمساعدة في إزالتها، مؤكداً أن الإعلانات الاحتيالية التي تنتحل صفة البنك والمؤسسات المالية الرسمية تشهد تزايداً ملحوظاً.
وعود الثراء السريع.. علامة خطر
وأكد البنك أن أي جهة تدّعي تحقيق أرباح استثنائية خلال فترة قصيرة يجب التعامل معها بحذر شديد، مشيراً إلى أن المؤسسات الرسمية والبنوك المركزية لا تروج لأي فرص استثمارية عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي أو الرسائل المجهولة.
وأضاف أن الوعود بتحويل مبالغ محدودة إلى ثروات ضخمة خلال أسابيع تمثل إحدى أبرز علامات الاحتيال المالي الرقمي.
فاراج: لن أهاجم بيلي أبداً
من جانبه، سارع نايجل فاراج إلى نفي صحة المقاطع المتداولة، مؤكداً عبر منصة «إكس» أنها نتاج محتوى مولّد بالذكاء الاصطناعي.
وقال: «ربما شاهدتم بعض مقاطع الفيديو الغريبة المنتشرة اليوم. ورغم وجود خلافات بيني وبين أندرو بيلي حول الاقتصاد، فإنني لن أتجاوز هذا الحد أبداً».
وتأتي هذه الواقعة في وقت تتزايد فيه مخاوف الجهات التنظيمية البريطانية من تنامي استخدام تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي في تنفيذ عمليات احتيال مالي متطورة، تستهدف استغلال ثقة المستخدمين بالمؤسسات الإعلامية والمالية المعروفة.
The Bank of England has warned of the rise in cyber fraud that exploits artificial intelligence technologies and fabricated content to deceive users, following the spread of fake videos and images showing a heated argument between Bank Governor Andrew Bailey and the leader of the "Reform UK" party, Nigel Farage, during a television program.
The bank clarified that the clips circulating on the "X" platform have no basis in reality; they were designed to mislead the public and direct them to websites impersonating the BBC, promoting fake investments that claim to turn £250 into a million within just 11 weeks.
Advanced Fraud Campaigns
The Bank of England confirmed that this material is part of cyber fraud campaigns that rely on manipulating media content and "deepfake" technologies, aiming to lure victims into non-existent financial offers.
The bank emphasized the necessity of verifying news and information sources before engaging with them, warning against being swayed by any investment offers that promise unrealistic, huge, and quick returns.
Fake "Fight Videos"
The warning came after clips showing Andrew Bailey and Nigel Farage in a brawl inside the studio of the "Question Time" program on BBC One circulated, while some fabricated versions showed police intervening to separate them, and others even claimed Farage was holding a weapon during the altercation.
The Governor of the Bank of England urged the public to report these clips and fake content to help remove them, confirming that fraudulent advertisements impersonating the bank and official financial institutions are on the rise.
Promises of Quick Wealth... A Warning Sign
The bank stated that any entity claiming to achieve extraordinary profits in a short period should be treated with extreme caution, noting that official institutions and central banks do not promote any investment opportunities through social media or anonymous messages.
It added that promises to turn small amounts into massive fortunes within weeks represent one of the most prominent signs of digital financial fraud.
Farage: I Will Never Attack Bailey
For his part, Nigel Farage quickly denied the authenticity of the circulated clips, confirming via the "X" platform that they are the result of AI-generated content.
He said: "You may have seen some of the strange videos circulating today. While there are disagreements between me and Andrew Bailey regarding the economy, I will never go beyond that."
This incident comes at a time when concerns are growing among British regulatory bodies about the increasing use of artificial intelligence technologies in executing advanced financial fraud, aimed at exploiting users' trust in well-known media and financial institutions.
