فقدت الرياضة السعودية اليوم أحد أبرز نجومها السابقين بوفاة لاعب المنتخب السعودي ونادي الشباب السابق الكابتن مساعد السويلم عن عمر ناهز 61 عاماً، بعد مسيرة رياضية حافلة ترك خلالها بصمة بارزة مع المنتخب الوطني ونادي الشباب.

وكشف نجم المنتخب السعودي السابق زميله في نادي الشباب الكابتن عبدالرحمن الرومي تفاصيل الوفاة، موضحاً أن السويلم انتقل إلى رحمة الله صباح اليوم أثناء وجوده في تايلند، حيث كان يتلقى العلاج في أحد المستشفيات عقب تعرضه لوعكة صحية مفاجئة.
وأشار إلى أنه سيتم الإعلان عن موعد ومكان الصلاة والدفن فور استكمال الإجراءات اللازمة.
الاتحاد السعودي ينعى الراحل
ونعى الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم الكابتن مساعد السويلم، إذ تقدم رئيس مجلس الإدارة ياسر المسحل، باسمه ونيابة عن أعضاء المجلس ومنسوبي الاتحاد، بخالص العزاء وصادق المواساة لأسرة الفقيد.
وأكد الاتحاد في بيان أن السويلم كان أحد أبناء الكرة السعودية الذين خدموا المنتخبات الوطنية ونادي الشباب، داعياً الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ويسكنه فسيح جناته، ويلهم أهله وذويه الصبر والسلوان.

نعى نادي الشباب نجمه الراحل، وأكد النادي، في بيان نعي، أن رئيس مجلس الإدارة وأعضاء المجلس ومنسوبي النادي يتقدمون بأحر التعازي وصادق المواساة لأسرة الفقيد ومحبيه، سائلين الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ومغفرته، وأن يلهم ذويه الصبر والسلوان.
مسيرة حافلة مع الأخضر والشباب
ويُعد مساعد السويلم من أبرز نجوم الكرة السعودية في حقبة الثمانينات والتسعينات، إذ مثّل منتخبات المملكة المختلفة وأسهم في تحقيق العديد من الإنجازات والانتصارات، وكان السويلم أحد أفراد أول منتخب سعودي يُحقق لقب كأس آسيا 1984، وهي البطولة التي شهدت تتويج الأخضر بأول ألقابه القارية، في إنجاز تاريخي شكّل نقطة التحول الكبرى لكرة القدم السعودية. وقد شارك السويلم ضمن قائمة المنتخب في تلك النسخة، وخاض 5 مباريات دولية بقميص الأخضر خلال تلك الفترة الذهبية.

وكتب نجم الكرة السعودية ماجد عبدالله أن السويلم كان لاعباً خلوقاً ومحبوباً بين زملائه، وترك سيرة طيبة ومحبة في قلوب كل من عرفه، سائلاً الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ومغفرته.
كما نعى لاعب الشباب السابق رمزي العصيمي زميله الراحل، داعياً له بالرحمة والمغفرة وأن يجعل قبره روضة من رياض الجنة.
من جانبه، قال رئيس نادي الشباب السابق محمد النويصر إن الأسرة الشبابية فقدت أحد أبرز نجومها خلقاً وعطاءً، مستذكراً مسيرته منذ مراحل الناشئين والشباب وصولاً إلى تمثيل الفريق الأول والمنتخب الوطني، مؤكداً أن الراحل ترك إرثاً رياضياً وإنسانياً سيبقى في ذاكرة الرياضيين ومحبيه.

The former Saudi national team star and his teammate at Al-Shabab, Captain Abdulrahman Al-Rumi, revealed details about the death, explaining that Al-Suwailem passed away this morning while in Thailand, where he was receiving treatment in a hospital following a sudden health crisis.
He indicated that the date and location of the prayer and burial will be announced once the necessary procedures are completed.
The Saudi Federation Mourns the Deceased
The Saudi Football Federation mourned Captain Mosaad Al-Suwailem, with the Chairman of the Board, Yasser Al-Mashel, expressing his heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of the deceased on behalf of himself, the board members, and the federation staff.
The federation confirmed in a statement that Al-Suwailem was one of the sons of Saudi football who served the national teams and Al-Shabab club, praying that God grants him vast mercy and places him in His spacious gardens, and grants his family and loved ones patience and solace.
Al-Shabab Mourns Its Late Star
Al-Shabab club mourned its late star, stating in a mourning statement that the Chairman of the Board, board members, and club staff extend their warmest condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of the deceased and his fans, asking God to grant him vast mercy and forgiveness, and to inspire his family with patience and solace.
A Distinguished Career with the Green and Al-Shabab
Mosaad Al-Suwailem is considered one of the most prominent stars of Saudi football in the 1980s and 1990s, having represented various national teams and contributed to achieving many accomplishments and victories. He was a member of the first Saudi national team to win the AFC Asian Cup in 1984, a tournament that saw the Green team crowned with its first continental title, marking a historic achievement that formed a major turning point in Saudi football. Al-Suwailem participated in that edition of the tournament and played 5 international matches wearing the green jersey during that golden period.
He was also one of the influential players in Al-Shabab during the early years of its championships, particularly when winning the Federation Cup in 1408 AH.
The late player was known for his high individual skills, great speed, and ability to create and score goals, which made him one of the names that left a remarkable presence in the memory of sports fans.
Widespread Grief in the Sports Community
Social media platforms witnessed a wide wave of expressions of sorrow and prayers for the deceased, as several former Saudi sports stars expressed their sadness over his passing.
Saudi football star Majed Abdullah wrote that Al-Suwailem was a respectful and beloved player among his teammates, leaving a good reputation and love in the hearts of all who knew him, praying that God grants him vast mercy and forgiveness.
Former Al-Shabab player Ramzi Al-Asimi also mourned his late colleague, praying for him to receive mercy and forgiveness and that his grave be a garden from the gardens of paradise.
For his part, former Al-Shabab club president Mohammed Al-Nuwaiser stated that the Al-Shabab family lost one of its most prominent stars in character and contribution, recalling his journey from the youth and junior stages to representing the first team and the national team, affirming that the late player left a sports and humanitarian legacy that will remain in the memory of athletes and his fans.
