قاد مهاجم الاتحاد جورج إلينيخينا منتخب بلاده نيجيريا لتحقيق فوز ثمين على نظيره مدغشقر بهدفين لهدف، وذلك ضمن منافسات الجولة الأولى من التصفيات المؤهلة إلى نهائيات كأس الأمم الأفريقية لكرة القدم 2027، اليوم (الجمعة).

وساهم جورج إلينيخينا في قلب النتيجة في ظهوره الدولي الأول بقميص نيجيريا، بعدما تمكن من إحراز هدف التعادل في الدقيقة الأولى من الوقت بدل الضائع للشوط الأول ليدشن مسلسل أهدافه مع منتخب بلاده، وكان الجهاز الفني لمنتخب نيجيريا قد استدعى إلينيخينا في اللحظات الأخيرة كبديل للمهاجم الأول فيكتور أوسيمين لاعب غلاطة سراي التركي، ومن ثم أحرز زميله موزيس أوسور لاعب لاسك لينز النمساوي الهدف الثاني في الدقيقة 65، بعدما كان إحسان كاري قد سجل هدف التقدم لمدغشقر في الدقيقة 16.

وبهذا الفوز حصد المنتخب النيجيري أول 3 نقاط في مشوار التصفيات ليكون في المركز الثاني بالمجموعة الثانية عشرة، بفارق الأهداف عن منتخب غينيا بيساو الذي فاز في وقت سابق اليوم على تنزانيا (2-صفر).

وكان منتخب نيجيريا قد احتل المركز الثالث في النسخة الماضية من بطولة أمم أفريقيا بالفوز على مصر بركلات الترجيح، في حين فشلت نيجيريا لاحقاً في التأهل إلى نهائيات كأس العالم بالخسارة من الكونغو الديمقراطية أيضاً بركلات الترجيح.

Union attacker George Elinikhina led his country Nigeria to a valuable victory over Madagascar with a score of two to one, during the first round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, today (Friday).

George Elinikhina contributed to turning the result in his first international appearance in the Nigeria shirt, as he managed to score the equalizer in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half, marking the beginning of his goal tally with the national team. The coaching staff of the Nigerian team had called up Elinikhina at the last moment as a substitute for the main striker Victor Osimhen, the Galatasaray player from Turkey. His teammate Moses Ousor from LASK Linz in Austria then scored the second goal in the 65th minute, after Ihsan Kari had scored the opening goal for Madagascar in the 16th minute.

With this victory, the Nigerian team earned their first 3 points in the qualifying journey, placing them second in Group 12, on goal difference from Guinea-Bissau, which won earlier today against Tanzania (2-0).

The Nigerian team had finished third in the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Egypt in a penalty shootout, while Nigeria later failed to qualify for the World Cup finals after losing to the Democratic Republic of Congo also in a penalty shootout.
