جاء توجيه خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، بناء على ما رفعه ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، بإطلاق اسم الأمير مساعد بن عبدالرحمن آل سعود، رحمه الله، على الجامعة السعودية الإلكترونية، تقديراً لما قدمه من جهود وأعمال جليلة وإسهامات وطنية مشهودة ومتميزة.

ويأتي هذا التوجيه في سياق عناية القيادة برجالات المملكة وتقدير أدوارهم، وحفظ أسماء من أسهموا في خدمة الدولة وبناء مؤسساتها.

والأمير مساعد بن عبدالرحمن، شقيق الملك المؤسس عبدالعزيز بن عبدالرحمن، من رجالات الدولة الذين تولوا مسؤوليات مهمة في تاريخ المملكة. فقد كان أول رئيس لديوان المظالم، وأول رئيس لديوان المراقبة العامة، وتولى وزارة الداخلية، ثم وزارة المالية والاقتصاد الوطني.

وعرفت سيرته كذلك اهتمامه بالعلم والقراءة واقتناء الكتب. فقد أنشأ مكتبة عامة في الرياض جمع فيها الكتب والمطبوعات وأتاحها لطلبة العلم والقراء، وكانت من المكتبات المبكرة التي عرفتها العاصمة.

هذه جوانب من سيرة الأمير مساعد بن عبدالرحمن يعرفها من قرأ ما كُتب عنه، غير أن معرفتي بالأمير فيصل بن مساعد بن عبدالرحمن أتاحت لي الاقتراب من جوانب أخرى في سيرة والده وشخصيته. وفي الأمير فيصل رأيت امتداداً لما يروى عن والده من مكارم الأخلاق ودماثتها، بما عرفته فيه من حكمة ورقي في التعامل وتواضع وحسن إنصات وتقدير للناس.

ومن خلال أحاديث الأمير فيصل عن والده عرفت مواقف وتفاصيل إنسانية قد لا تتسع لها السير المنشورة، لكنها تقدم صورة أقرب للإنسان خلف رجل الدولة، وتضيف إلى ما هو معروف عن مسيرته جانباً إنسانياً بقي حاضراً في ذاكرة أسرته ومن عرفوه.

ويأتي إطلاق اسم الأمير مساعد بن عبدالرحمن على الجامعة السعودية الإلكترونية تقديراً لمسيرة حافلة بخدمة الدولة، وربطاً لاسمه بمؤسسة تحمل رسالة العلم والتعليم.

رحل الأمير مساعد وبقيت سيرته وأعماله، وجاء التوجيه الكريم ليحمل اسمه صرحاً تعليمياً وطنياً، وليبقى حاضراً في ذاكرة الأجيال.

فالوطن لا ينسى من خدمه، والدولة تحفظ لرجالها ما قدموه لها.

The directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, came based on what was submitted by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, to name the Saudi Electronic University after Prince Musaid bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may God have mercy on him, in appreciation of his efforts, noble deeds, and distinguished national contributions.

This directive comes in the context of the leadership's care for the men of the Kingdom and their appreciation of their roles, preserving the names of those who contributed to serving the state and building its institutions.

Prince Musaid bin Abdulrahman, the brother of the founding king Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman, was one of the statesmen who held important responsibilities in the history of the Kingdom. He was the first president of the Board of Grievances, the first president of the General Auditing Bureau, and he held the Ministry of Interior, then the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.

His biography is also known for his interest in knowledge, reading, and collecting books. He established a public library in Riyadh where he gathered books and publications and made them available to students of knowledge and readers, and it was one of the early libraries known in the capital.

These are aspects of the biography of Prince Musaid bin Abdulrahman known to those who have read what has been written about him; however, my acquaintance with Prince Faisal bin Musaid bin Abdulrahman allowed me to get closer to other aspects of his father's biography and personality. In Prince Faisal, I saw an extension of what is said about his father in terms of noble morals and their gentleness, as I recognized in him wisdom, refinement in dealing, humility, good listening, and appreciation for people.

Through Prince Faisal's conversations about his father, I learned of human positions and details that may not be covered in published biographies, but they provide a closer image of the human behind the statesman, adding a human aspect to what is known about his journey, which has remained present in the memory of his family and those who knew him.

The naming of the Saudi Electronic University after Prince Musaid bin Abdulrahman is a recognition of a career filled with service to the state, linking his name to an institution that carries the message of knowledge and education.

Prince Musaid passed away, but his legacy and deeds remain, and the gracious directive has made his name a national educational edifice, ensuring he remains present in the memory of generations.

For the nation does not forget those who served it, and the state preserves for its men what they have offered to it.
