أعلنت السلطات الكندية سقوط قتلى وجرحى إثر حادث خطير تسبب في اندلاع حريق ضخم داخل قاعدة عسكرية بمقاطعة ألبرتا غربي البلاد، (السبت)، فيما امتدت النيران إلى خارج محيط القاعدة بفعل الرياح القوية، وسط استنفار واسع لفرق الإطفاء والطوارئ وفتح تحقيق لكشف ملابسات الحادث.
وأكد وزير الدفاع الكندي ديفيد ماكغينتي وقوع وفيات وإصابات في قاعدة «وينرايت» التابعة للقوات المسلحة الكندية، دون الكشف عن أعداد الضحايا أو طبيعة الحادث الذي تسبب في اندلاع الحريق.
رئيس الوزراء: حادث خطير وتنسيق مع السلطات المحلية
وقال رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني، في منشور عبر منصة «إكس»، إن حادثاً خطيراً وقع في قاعدة القوات الكندية «وينرايت» بمقاطعة ألبرتا، وأدى إلى نشوب حريق كبير.
وأعرب كارني عن تضامنه مع العسكريين والمتضررين، مؤكداً أن الحكومة الاتحادية تعمل بصورة وثيقة مع حكومة المقاطعة والسلطات المحلية لمواجهة تداعيات الحادث.
وأضاف أنه على تواصل مباشر مع رئيسة حكومة ألبرتا دانييل سميث، إلى جانب استمرار التنسيق بين المسؤولين المعنيين على المستويين الاتحادي والمحلي.
قتلى ومصابون والتحقيقات مستمرة
من جانبه، أكد وزير الدفاع ديفيد ماكغينتي أن الحادث أسفر عن سقوط قتلى وجرحى، واصفاً الوضع بأنه بالغ الحساسية، في ظل استمرار عمليات الاستجابة والتحقيق.
وأوضح أن الشرطة الملكية الكندية تشارك في التحقيقات لتحديد طبيعة ما جرى داخل القاعدة، مشيراً إلى أن السلطات لم تتوصل بعد إلى معلومات نهائية بشأن أسباب الحادث.
ولم يعلن الوزير حصيلة محددة للضحايا، أو تفاصيل عن طبيعة الإصابات، مؤكداً أن الجهات المختصة ستكشف المزيد من المعلومات فور التحقق منها.
وكان النائب الكندي دين لويد قد تحدث، في وقت سابق، عن تلقيه معلومات تشير إلى وقوع خسائر بشرية كبيرة عقب انفجار وحريق داخل القاعدة، دون تقديم أرقام رسمية.
النيران تتجاوز حدود القاعدة العسكرية
وأعلنت السلطات المحلية في منطقة وينرايت أن الحريق تجاوز السياج المحيط بالقاعدة العسكرية، وبدأ ينتشر بسرعة نتيجة الرياح القوية التي شهدتها المنطقة.
واستدعى اتساع النيران مشاركة فرق إطفاء من عدة جهات، بالتعاون مع القوات المسلحة الكندية وأجهزة الطوارئ المحلية والإقليمية.
كما قدمت بلدة وينرايت المجاورة دعماً لعمليات الإطفاء والخدمات الطبية، فيما شاركت فرق الإسعاف في التعامل مع المصابين ونقلهم إلى المرافق الصحية.
وأكدت السلطات أنه لم تصدر أوامر بإخلاء السكان في المناطق المحيطة بالقاعدة حتى وقت إعداد التقرير.
رئيسة حكومة ألبرتا: حادث مأساوي
ووصفت رئيسة حكومة ألبرتا دانييل سميث الحريق بأنه كبير ومأساوي، مشيرة إلى تأثر عدد من أفراد القوات المسلحة بالحادث.
وأكدت استمرار التنسيق مع الحكومة الاتحادية لتقديم المساعدة اللازمة، معربة عن تقديرها لفرق الإطفاء والإسعاف والعاملين في الاستجابة للطوارئ.
كما أعرب زعيم حزب المحافظين المعارض بيير بولييفر عن تضامنه مع المتضررين، داعياً السكان إلى الالتزام بتعليمات الطوارئ وإبقاء الطرق مفتوحة أمام فرق الإنقاذ.
قاعدة رئيسية لتدريب الجيش الكندي
تقع قاعدة «وينرايت» العسكرية على مسافة تقارب 180 كيلومتراً جنوب شرقي مدينة إدمونتون، عاصمة مقاطعة ألبرتا، وتُعد واحدة من أبرز منشآت التدريب التابعة للقوات المسلحة الكندية.
وتضم القاعدة مركز التدريب على المناورات العسكرية الكندية، الذي يجري تدريبات ميدانية تحاكي ظروف العمليات القتالية، إلى جانب مركز تدريب تابع للفرقة الكندية الثالثة.
وتستخدم القوات المسلحة المنشأة لإعداد الوحدات العسكرية وتطوير قدراتها القتالية، ما يمنح الحادث أهمية خاصة في ظل استمرار التحقيقات بشأن أسبابه وحجم الأضرار التي لحقت بالمنشأة.
ولم تعلن السلطات الكندية حتى الآن ما إذا كان الحادث مرتبطاً بتدريبات عسكرية أو خلل فني أو أسباب أخرى، مؤكدة أن التحقيقات لا تزال جارية.

Earlier, Canadian MP Dean Lloyd spoke about receiving information indicating significant human losses following an explosion and fire inside the base, without providing official numbers.
Fire Spreads Beyond Military Base Boundaries
Local authorities in the Wainwright area announced that the fire had breached the perimeter fence of the military base and began to spread rapidly due to the strong winds experienced in the area.
The expansion of the flames required the participation of firefighting teams from various agencies, in cooperation with the Canadian Armed Forces and local and regional emergency services.
The neighboring town of Wainwright provided support for firefighting operations and medical services, while ambulance teams participated in dealing with the injured and transporting them to health facilities.
