أعادت دارة الملك عبدالعزيز تسليط الضوء على تفاصيل رحلة حج من الماضي، من خلال رواية شفوية للراحلة حصة محمد فهد السويد، المولودة في جلاجل بمنطقة سدير، تستحضر فيها ما عانته خلال رحلتها إلى مكة المكرمة، في وقت كانت فيه المسافات الطويلة ومحدودية وسائل النقل تجعل الوصول إلى المشاعر المقدسة رحلة شاقة بكل المقاييس.

وتكشف السويد في شهادتها أن الوصول من سدير إلى مكة استغرق 18 يوماً كاملة، ووصفت مشقة الطريق بأنها أشبه بالموت، في تعبير يعكس قسوة الرحلة والتحديات التي واجهها الحجاج قديماً قبل تطور وسائل المواصلات والخدمات.

ولا تقتصر الرواية على تفاصيل السفر، بل تقدم لمحات عن مكة المكرمة والمسجد الحرام قبل التوسعات الحديثة، إلى جانب مشاهد من العمران وطبيعة الحياة اليومية ووسائل التنقل في تلك الحقبة، بما يوثق جانباً من التحولات التي طرأت على تجربة الحج عبر العقود.

وتعود المقابلة التي استندت إليها الدارة في توثيق هذه الشهادة إلى عام 1424هـ، الموافق 2003م، حين كانت السويد تبلغ 45 عاماً. وأرفقت الدارة الرواية بصور تاريخية ومقاطع فيديو مرتبطة بموضوعها، لتقديم صورة أوضح عن الظروف التي أحاطت بتجربتها.

وتندرج هذه المادة ضمن مشروع التاريخ الشفوي الذي تعمل عليه دارة الملك عبدالعزيز، بهدف جمع الشهادات التي تنقل تجارب الأفراد وتوثق تفاصيل الحياة الاجتماعية والثقافية في المملكة، بما يسهم في صون الذاكرة الوطنية وإثراء المحتوى التاريخي بمصادر تستند إلى تجارب أصحابها.

كما تتيح الدارة للباحثين والمهتمين الاطلاع على روايات التاريخ الشفوي المحفوظة لديها عبر مركز خدمات المستفيدين، بما يدعم الدراسات التاريخية ويوسع الاستفادة من هذه الشهادات بوصفها جزءاً من مصادر توثيق الماضي.

The King Abdulaziz Foundation has shed light on the details of a pilgrimage journey from the past, through an oral narrative by the late Hissa Mohammed Fahd Al-Suwaid, born in Al-Jalajil in the Sudair region. She recalls the hardships she faced during her journey to Mecca, at a time when long distances and limited means of transportation made reaching the holy sites a daunting journey by all measures.

Al-Suwaid reveals in her testimony that the journey from Sudair to Mecca took a full 18 days, describing the difficulty of the road as akin to death, a phrase that reflects the harshness of the journey and the challenges faced by pilgrims in the past before the development of transportation and services.

The narrative does not only focus on travel details but also provides glimpses of Mecca and the Grand Mosque before the modern expansions, along with scenes of urban development, daily life, and means of transportation during that era, documenting a part of the transformations that have occurred in the pilgrimage experience over the decades.

The interview that the foundation relied on to document this testimony dates back to the year 1424 AH, corresponding to 2003 AD, when Al-Suwaid was 45 years old. The foundation accompanied the narrative with historical photos and video clips related to the topic, to provide a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding her experience.

This material is part of the oral history project that the King Abdulaziz Foundation is working on, aimed at collecting testimonies that convey individual experiences and document details of social and cultural life in the Kingdom, contributing to the preservation of national memory and enriching historical content with sources based on the experiences of their owners.

The foundation also allows researchers and interested individuals to access the oral history narratives preserved in its archives through the Beneficiary Services Center, supporting historical studies and expanding the benefit of these testimonies as part of the sources documenting the past.
