أعلن حاكم بانكوك تشادشارت سيتيبونت، اليوم (السبت)، العاصمة التايلندية منطقة متضررة من الكوارث بسبب الفيضانات، بعد هطول أمطار غزيرة ومتواصلة غمرت العديد من الطرق وأعاقت حركة السكان، وسط توقعات باستمرار الأمطار خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع.
وشمل الإعلان جميع مناطق بانكوك الـ50، بعدما كانت السلطات قد أعلنت في البداية 3 مناطق فقط مناطق متضررة، في خطوة تتيح للجهات الحكومية والمحلية تسريع عمليات الإغاثة ومساعدة السكان المتضررين.
وشهدت العاصمة أمطاراً متواصلة لأكثر من 24 ساعة، تجاوزت 150 مليمتراً في بعض المناطق، فيما أظهرت بيانات محلية أن كميات الأمطار المتراكمة منذ بدء الحالة اقتربت من 300 مليمتر في بعض المواقع.
وحذر تشادشارت من خطورة الوضع على السكان وما قد يسببه من أضرار للممتلكات العامة والخاصة.
تحذيرات من مزيد من الأمطار
وحذرت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية التايلندية من استمرار الأمطار الغزيرة إلى شديدة الغزارة والعواصف الرعدية خلال مطلع الأسبوع، مع تعرض بانكوك ومناطق أخرى في البلاد لمزيد من الأمطار.
وأرجعت هيئة الأرصاد الحالة الجوية إلى منخفض جوي قوي يؤثر في وسط تايلند وبانكوك والمناطق المحيطة بها، بالتزامن مع اشتداد الرياح الموسمية الجنوبية الغربية.
وأصدرت السلطات تحذيرات للسكان القاطنين بالقرب من القنوات والمناطق المنخفضة، ودعتهم إلى نقل ممتلكاتهم إلى أماكن مرتفعة تحسباً لارتفاع منسوب المياه.
فتح مراكز للإيواء
وبدأت إدارة بانكوك تنفيذ إجراءات طارئة للتعامل مع الفيضانات، تضمنت تجهيز المدارس التابعة للمدينة لاستخدامها مراكز إيواء مؤقتة، مع إعطاء الأولوية للمرضى طريحي الفراش والفئات الأكثر احتياجاً للمساعدة.
كما تعمل السلطات على تسريع تصريف المياه ووضع حواجز وأكياس رمل في المناطق المعرضة للخطر، فيما تواصل فرق الطوارئ مراقبة الوضع في مختلف أنحاء العاصمة.
The Governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt, announced today (Saturday) that the Thai capital is a disaster-affected area due to flooding, following heavy and continuous rainfall that has submerged many roads and hindered the movement of residents, amid forecasts of continued rain over the weekend.
The announcement included all 50 districts of Bangkok, after authorities initially declared only 3 districts as affected areas, in a move that allows government and local agencies to expedite relief operations and assist affected residents.
The capital has experienced continuous rain for more than 24 hours, exceeding 150 millimeters in some areas, while local data showed that the accumulated rainfall since the onset of the situation approached 300 millimeters in certain locations.
Chadchart warned of the seriousness of the situation for residents and the potential damage it could cause to public and private property.
Warnings of More Rain
The Thai Meteorological Department warned of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms at the beginning of the week, with Bangkok and other areas in the country facing more rain.
The department attributed the weather conditions to a strong low-pressure system affecting central Thailand, Bangkok, and the surrounding areas, coinciding with the intensification of the southwest monsoon winds.
Authorities issued warnings to residents living near canals and low-lying areas, urging them to move their belongings to higher ground in anticipation of rising water levels.
Opening Shelters
The Bangkok administration has begun implementing emergency measures to deal with the flooding, which included preparing city schools to be used as temporary shelters, prioritizing bedridden patients and those most in need of assistance.
Authorities are also working to expedite water drainage and set up barriers and sandbags in at-risk areas, while emergency teams continue to monitor the situation throughout the capital.
