The Argentina national team swept aside Burkina Faso (under 23) with a score of seven goals to none in the friendly match held today (Sunday) at the "Monumental" stadium.
Late Arrival
The Burkina Faso delegation arrived in Argentina just a few hours before the match, after the airline canceled the flight that was scheduled for September 30 from Morocco without prior notice. With the senior national team's travel delayed, the Burkinabe federation had to rely on the under 23 team to save the match.
Match Goals
Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring for Argentina just four minutes into the match, followed by Burkina Faso defender Momoni Diallo scoring an own goal in the eighth minute.
The "Tango" team continued to dominate, as Gianluca Prestiani added the third goal in the 12th minute, while Nico Paz and Julian Alvarez scored the fourth and fifth goals in the 35th and 36th minutes, respectively.
In the second half, Franco Mastantuono scored the sixth goal for the hosts, and Giuliano Simeone capped off the goal fest by scoring the seventh goal in the 90+3 minute.
Messi's Farewell Match
The Argentina national team is set to play another friendly against Benin next Wednesday, which will be the last appearance for "Tango" captain Lionel Messi in his national team's jersey, after he announced his international retirement last August.
