A press report has revealed that former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal is close to joining Getafe on a free transfer, following his departure from the Merengues.

The veteran right-back, who is 34 years old, left Real Madrid at the end of last season after 13 seasons with the first team, during which he won 27 titles.

Reasons for Carvajal's proximity to Getafe

According to the Spanish newspaper "AS," Carvajal is close to joining Getafe, as he is attracted to the experience for several reasons, including the club's proximity to his home, which allows him to continue his life in the capital Madrid without making significant changes to his daily routine. He also finds the club's sports project appealing and positively values the possibility of working under coach José Bordalás.

A call to convince Carvajal

It added that the Getafe coach played an important role in the negotiations, as Bordalás personally contacted Carvajal to express his desire to sign him, explain the role he would play within the team, and try to convince him to join Getafe, a step that the player appreciated and could be decisive in making his decision.

Optimism about completing the deal

It clarified that things are progressing positively among all parties, with negotiations moving in a good direction. Currently, there is optimism regarding the deal, with a feeling that an agreement could be reached in the coming period, provided that the main obstacle in the negotiations is resolved.

One obstacle

This obstacle relates to the salary cap at Getafe, as the club will need to study the available salary margin in coordination with the Spanish league "La Liga," and find the appropriate formula to register the player. The club is already working on several options to create the necessary financial space.
