The Polish police announced the arrest of several teenagers in connection with threats related to attacks on schools, amid a wave of anxiety that swept the country following two stabbing incidents within two days, and the spread of rumors online about an alleged challenge called "Bloody Friday."

Police said today (Friday) that they have detained at least 10 people, mostly teenagers, on suspicion of making threats online, with additional arrests announced during the morning as part of security measures aimed at containing fears of new attacks.
While posts circulated on social media discussing an online challenge that may be behind the assaults, authorities confirmed that they had found no evidence of an organized challenge or a coordinated campaign to carry out attacks on schools.

Security Deployment in 10,000 Schools

Security measures have spread across Poland, with police deploying personnel in about 10,000 schools, coinciding with government warnings against the circulation of misleading information that could incite panic or encourage others to imitate the assaults.
Poland's Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Jurgiel stated in remarks to the private TVN24 channel that the internet is seeing the circulation of misleading and emotionally charged information, stemming from understandable fears among citizens, but he emphasized that there are no indications of an organized large-scale challenge targeting attacks across the country.
The minister added that authorities do not rule out the possibility of individuals communicating with each other to plan an assault, or the emergence of copycat attacks, but they have no evidence of a group coordinating to carry out acts of violence on Friday.

Death Threats and Possession of Knives

The arrests included a 13-year-old teenager in the capital, Warsaw, after he posted a picture of a knife in a private class chat group and threatened other students.
The police also detained a 14-year-old teenager inside a school in Warsaw, who was found in possession of a knife and fireworks, while two 15-year-old teenagers were held in the nearby Brzozów County after posting a video containing death threats.
These developments come amid growing fears of repeated attacks within educational institutions, following two separate stabbing incidents in the country over two consecutive days.

Attack Kills One Employee and Injures Two

On Thursday, a 15-year-old student carried out an attack inside an elementary school in the village of Liszki, northeast of Warsaw, resulting in the death of one staff member and injuries to two others.
Reports indicated that the attacker was wearing a camera mounted on a helmet during the assault.
The day before, another school in the town of Ostrowinka, northeast Poland, experienced an attack carried out by a 19-year-old, resulting in injuries to 10 people, including the attacker himself.
These incidents have raised concerns about the possibility of repeated assaults, especially with posts circulating on social media claiming a connection between the attacks and an online challenge.

Investigations into a TikTok Account

In a related context, accounts on social media circulated images of a TikTok account said to belong to the perpetrator of Thursday's attack, featuring photos taken before the assault.
The Central Cyber Crime Bureau in Poland stated in response to the agency that it is aware of the content posted on the account of interest and is cooperating with the platform in this regard.
Polish authorities continue their security measures and investigations related to the threats, amid efforts to curb the spread of rumors and prevent any new assaults, at a time when investigations have not confirmed any link between the incidents and an organized online challenge.
