في قصة أشبه بأفلام الإثارة، لم تكن الأميرة الأردنية فريال تعلم أن خزائنها قد تعرضت للنهب، حتى جاءها اتصال هاتفي مفاجئ غير مجرى الأحداث تماماً، ليقودها في رحلة بحث مثيرة انتهت أمام أروقة القضاء البريطاني ومثول موظفتها السابقة في قفص الاتهام.

بدأت الحكاية في نوفمبر 2020، حين تلقى بيير جانيه، شريك دار المجوهرات الشهيرة «جار»، اتصالاً استفسارياً قاده للتواصل هاتفياً مع الأميرة فريال للاستفسار عن نيتها بيع بعض مقتنياتها الثمينة. وحين نفت الأميرة القصة جملة وتفصيلاً، كانت المفاجأة حين أخبرها بأن مجوهرات تخصها شخصياً قد ظهرت بالفعل في مزاد بمدينة كانتربري البريطانية.

قاد الفضول الأميرة الأردنية لمطالعة كتالوغ المزاد، لتصدم بوجود صورة خاتم خطوبتها المرصع بالياقوت والألماس على غلاف الكتالوج! ولم يكن هناك أدنى شك في قدرتها على التعرف عليه، نظراً لتصميمه الفريد الذي أُعد خصيصاً لها. ودفعها هذا الاكتشاف الصادم للبحث والتقصي، لتحصل على كتالوغات ثلاثة مزادات أخرى أُقيمت خلال العام نفسه، لتكتشف المفاجأة الأكبر بوجود طابور طويل من مقتنياتها المسروقة يعرض للبيع علناً.

وبعد رحلة شاقة في جمع الأدلة وتوثيق المشتريات وصورها وهي ترتدي تلك المجوهرات لإثبات ملكيتها أمام دور المزادات المشككة، بدأت خيوط الجريمة تتكشف بالعودة إلى مارس 2020، مع بداية جائحة كورونا. حينها، غادرت الأميرة فريال لندن متوجهة إلى الأردن، وتركت منزلها الفاره في حي بلغرافيا تحت رعاية موظفتها المقربة «ماريا فيرخلينا تابوردا هيناو» البالغة من العمر 71 عاماً، والتي عملت لديها بإخلاص طوال 11 عاماً.

ووفقاً لتحقيقات النيابة أمام محكمة ساوثوارك في لندن، استغلت الموظفة غياب الأميرة لتستولي على القطع الثمينة، مستعينة بابن شقيقها جوليان راميريز لعرضها على دور المزادات وبيعها. وعقب تفتيش منزل المتهمة، عثرت الشرطة على خاتم زواج داخل معطف، وقلادة مخبأة في خزانة المطبخ، وأقراط داخل ظرف، بينما تستمر محاكمة المتهمة التي تنفي التهم الموجهة إليها في انتظار أن تقول العدالة كلمتها.

In a story reminiscent of thriller films, Jordanian Princess Ferial was unaware that her treasures had been looted until a surprising phone call completely changed the course of events, leading her on an exciting search that ended in the halls of British justice with her former employee standing in the dock.

The tale began in November 2020, when Pierre Jané, a partner at the famous jewelry house "Gar", received an inquiry call that led him to contact Princess Ferial to ask about her intention to sell some of her precious possessions. When the princess denied the story outright, the surprise came when he informed her that jewelry belonging to her had indeed appeared at an auction in the British city of Canterbury.

Curiosity led the Jordanian princess to browse the auction catalog, and she was shocked to find a picture of her engagement ring, adorned with sapphires and diamonds, on the cover of the catalog! There was no doubt she could recognize it, given its unique design that was made specifically for her. This shocking discovery prompted her to investigate further, obtaining catalogs from three other auctions held during the same year, only to uncover an even bigger surprise: a long queue of her stolen possessions was being offered for sale publicly.

After a strenuous journey of gathering evidence and documenting purchases and photos of herself wearing those jewels to prove her ownership to the skeptical auction houses, the threads of the crime began to unravel, tracing back to March 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, Princess Ferial left London for Jordan, leaving her lavish home in the Belgravia neighborhood under the care of her close employee, "Maria Verhelina Taborda Hinao," who was 71 years old and had worked for her faithfully for 11 years.

According to the prosecution's investigation before the Southwark Court in London, the employee took advantage of the princess's absence to seize the valuable pieces, enlisting her nephew Julian Ramirez to offer them at auction houses and sell them. Following a search of the defendant's home, the police found a wedding ring inside a coat, a necklace hidden in the kitchen cupboard, and earrings inside an envelope, while the trial of the defendant, who denies the charges against her, continues as justice awaits to speak.
