قرر الاتحاد البرتغالي لكرة القدم إيقاف قائد المنتخب كريستيانو رونالدو مؤقتاً، إثر مغادرته معسكر منتخب بلاده في كوبنهاغن دون إذن مسبق، وذلك بعد أزمة حادة مع المدرب خورخي جيسوس.

وجاءت مغادرة النجم البالغ من العمر 41 عاماً احتجاجاً على بقائه بديلاً طوال مواجهة النرويج في دوري الأمم الأوروبية، معتبراً تصرف المدرب خرقاً لاتفاق مسبق بشأن تنظيم مشاركاته لحمايته من الإجهاد. ووفقاً للوائح الاتحاد، يواجه رونالدو عقوبة إيقاف دولية قد تتراوح بين شهر وستة أشهر.

من جانبه، سبق وأن أصدر رونالدو بياناً رسمياً قدم فيه اعتذاراً علنياً، مقراً بالخطأ ومؤكداً التزامه بقبول أي قرار يصدر عن المجلس التأديبي، معترفاً بأن شارة القيادة تضاعف من مسؤوليته. وبحسب التقارير الإعلامية، فإن هذا الاعتراف السريع قد يساهم في تخفيف العقوبة إلى النصف، مما يمهد لعودته المحتملة في نوفمبر القادم.

في المقابل، أكد المجلس التأديبي للاتحاد البرتغالي أن القضية ما زالت قيد المراجعة القانونية ولم يصدر الحكم النهائي بعد. يذكر أن العقوبة تقتصر على المنتخب البرتغالي فقط، ولن تؤثر على مشاركة رونالدو مع ناديه النصر.

The departure of the 41-year-old star was a protest against being benched throughout the match against Norway in the UEFA Nations League, considering the coach's actions a violation of a prior agreement regarding the organization of his appearances to protect him from fatigue. According to the federation's regulations, Ronaldo faces a potential international suspension ranging from one month to six months.

For his part, Ronaldo had previously issued an official statement in which he publicly apologized, acknowledging his mistake and affirming his commitment to accept any decision made by the disciplinary council, admitting that the captaincy increases his responsibility. According to media reports, this swift acknowledgment may contribute to reducing the penalty by half, paving the way for his potential return in November.

Meanwhile, the disciplinary council of the Portuguese federation confirmed that the case is still under legal review and a final ruling has not yet been issued.
