The Saudi cricket team was crowned the champion of Group B in the Asian sub-qualifiers for the T20 Cricket World Cup 2028, after achieving five consecutive victories in the tournament hosted by Malaysia, securing its place in the next stage of the Asian qualifiers scheduled for 2027.

The Saudi team received the championship trophy from the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Malaysia, Osama bin Dakhel Al-Ahmadi, after topping the group standings with a perfect score of 10 points, surpassing the participating teams.

The Green team began its journey by defeating Singapore, then overcame the host Malaysian team, and continued its victories against Hong Kong and China, before concluding its participation with a win over the Maldives, achieving five consecutive victories without a loss.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Cricket Federation, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammed Al Saud, confirmed that the championship represents an important milestone in the team's journey and reflects the development of the sport in the Kingdom.

He explained that the federation is working on developing players, enhancing technical programs and infrastructure, expanding opportunities for exposure and professionalism, in addition to building clear pathways that contribute to raising the readiness of national teams and enhancing their ability to compete internationally, pointing out that the federation's ambition goes beyond achieving titles towards building a sustainable system that enhances the Kingdom's presence on the global cricket map.
