أعلن الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون، وقوف بلاده إلى جانب السعودية في حماية أمنها والدفاع عن نفسها في مواجهة هجمات مليشيا الحوثي، مشيراً إلى مشاركة فرنسية في جهود المملكة الدفاعية.

وأوضح الرئيس الفرنسي أن باريس اقترحت المشاركة في إعادة تأهيل وتأمين خط أنابيب «شرق غرب» النفطي السعودي الذي تضرر بسبب الهجمات، مشيراً إلى «نشر أفراد وقدرات دفاعية منذ ثمانية أيام وحتى الآن».

وأضاف ماكرون خلال تصريحاته بالعاصمة القطرية الدوحة: «نحن نتقدم مع المملكة العربية السعودية في هذا الاتجاه، وبالتالي لدينا مشاركة دفاعية للمساعدة».

وأفاد قصر الإليزيه بأن ماكرون وصل إلى السعودية، (الأربعاء)، بعد جولته التي شملت الكويت والإمارات والبحرين وقطر، وبحث خلالها تعزيز الشراكات الإستراتيجية لفرنسا في قطاع الدفاع إضافة إلى إمدادات الطاقة.

واستقبل وزير الخارجية الأمير فيصل بن فرحان، (الإثنين)، نظيره الفرنسي جان نويل بارو.

وجرى خلال الاستقبال «استعراض العلاقات الثنائية، والشراكة القائمة بين البلدين في مختلف المجالات، وسبل تعزيزها بما يحقق المصالح المتبادلة ويدعم تطلعات البلدين الصديقين»، بحسب بيان للخارجية السعودية.

وبحث الجانبان تطورات الأوضاع الإقليمية، والجهود المبذولة للحد من تداعيات الأحداث فيها، وأكد وزير الخارجية الفرنسي «إدانة بلاده للاعتداءات الإرهابية لميليشيا الحوثي، وتضامن فرنسا مع المملكة»، بحسب البيان.

وتطرق الجانبان إلى أهمية تكثيف المساعي الدبلوماسية لضمان أمن وسلامة الممرات المائية الإقليمية وحرية الملاحة فيها، ودعم الجهود الدبلوماسية للتوصل إلى حلول شاملة ومستدامة للأزمات الإقليمية الراهنة، بما يسهم في ترسيخ الأمن والاستقرار في المنطقة.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that his country stands by Saudi Arabia in protecting its security and defending itself against attacks from the Houthi militia, noting French participation in the Kingdom's defensive efforts.

The French president explained that Paris has proposed to participate in the rehabilitation and securing of the Saudi oil pipeline "East-West," which was damaged due to the attacks, mentioning the "deployment of personnel and defensive capabilities for the past eight days and until now."

Macron added during his statements in the Qatari capital, Doha: "We are moving forward with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this direction, and thus we have a defensive participation to assist."

The Élysée Palace reported that Macron arrived in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, following his tour that included Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar, during which he discussed enhancing France's strategic partnerships in the defense sector in addition to energy supplies.

On Monday, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot.

During the reception, "the two sides reviewed bilateral relations, the existing partnership between the two countries in various fields, and ways to enhance it to achieve mutual interests and support the aspirations of the two friendly countries," according to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

The two sides discussed developments in the regional situation and the efforts made to mitigate the repercussions of events in the region, with the French foreign minister affirming "his country's condemnation of the terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia and France's solidarity with the Kingdom," according to the statement.

Both sides touched on the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to ensure the security and safety of regional waterways and freedom of navigation in them, and to support diplomatic efforts to reach comprehensive and sustainable solutions to the current regional crises, contributing to the establishment of security and stability in the region.
