قضت محكمة في كوريا الجنوبية، اليوم (الجمعة)، بسجن الرئيس السابق يون سوك يول لمدة 30 عاماً، بعد إدانته بتهم تتعلق بتدبير عملية توغل لطائرات مسيّرة عسكرية فوق الأراضي الكورية الشمالية، في خطوة قالت المحكمة إنها كانت تهدف إلى خلق مبرر لإعلان الأحكام العرفية الذي حاول فرضه في ديسمبر 2024.

وذكرت محكمة سيول المركزية، في بيان، أنها أدانت يون بتهمتي "مساعدة العدو" و"إساءة استخدام السلطة"، مؤكدة أنه شارك منذ البداية في التخطيط لعملية التوغل الجوي التي نُفذت فوق العاصمة الكورية الشمالية بيونغ يانغ خلال أكتوبر 2024.

ويأتي هذا الحكم ضمن سلسلة من الأحكام القضائية التي طالت الرئيس السابق، الذي شغل في السابق منصب المدعي العام الأعلى في البلاد، بعدما تسببت قراراته المتعلقة بالأحكام العرفية في واحدة من أعمق الأزمات السياسية التي شهدتها كوريا الجنوبية منذ عقود.

وكان يون قد نفى جميع الاتهامات المرتبطة بعملية التوغل، فيما أكد فريق دفاعه أنه لم يصدر أوامر بتنفيذ العملية ولم يوافق عليها لاحقاً.

وأضاف المحامون أن العملية لم تكن مرتبطة بخطة فرض الأحكام العرفية، بل جاءت رداً على إطلاق كوريا الشمالية، على مدى أشهر، بالونات محمّلة بالنفايات عبر الحدود.

وكان الادعاء العام قد طالب في أبريل الماضي بإنزال عقوبة السجن لمدة 30 عاماً بحق الرئيس السابق.

كما سبق لمحكمة كورية جنوبية أن أصدرت في فبراير حكماً بالسجن المؤبد عليه بعد إدانته بقيادة تمرد مرتبط بمحاولة فرض الأحكام العرفية.

وأُقيل يون من منصبه رسمياً العام الماضي بعدما أيدت المحكمة الدستورية قرار عزله، ما أدى إلى إجراء انتخابات رئاسية مبكرة فاز بها الرئيس الليبرالي لي جاي ميونغ.

ويقبع يون حالياً رهن الاحتجاز، ويحق له الطعن في الحكم الصادر الجمعة، أمام محكمة أعلى، علماً أنه تقدم بالفعل باستئنافات ضد الأحكام القضائية السابقة الصادرة بحقه.

A court in South Korea ruled today (Friday) to imprison former President Yoon Suk-yeol for 30 years after convicting him of charges related to orchestrating a military drone incursion over North Korean territory, in a move the court stated was aimed at creating a justification for declaring martial law that he attempted to impose in December 2024.

The Seoul Central Court, in a statement, found Yoon guilty of the charges of "aiding the enemy" and "abuse of power," confirming that he participated from the outset in planning the aerial incursion that was carried out over the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, in October 2024.

This ruling is part of a series of judicial decisions affecting the former president, who previously held the position of the country’s top prosecutor, after his decisions regarding martial law led to one of the deepest political crises South Korea has faced in decades.

Yoon denied all allegations related to the incursion, while his defense team asserted that he did not issue orders for the operation nor approved it later.

The lawyers added that the operation was not related to a plan to impose martial law but was a response to North Korea's months-long launch of balloons carrying waste across the border.

The prosecution had requested a 30-year prison sentence for the former president last April.

A South Korean court had previously issued a life sentence in February after convicting him of leading a rebellion related to the attempt to impose martial law.

Yoon was officially removed from office last year after the Constitutional Court upheld the decision to impeach him, leading to early presidential elections won by liberal President Lee Jae-myung.

Yoon is currently in custody and has the right to appeal the ruling issued on Friday to a higher court, noting that he has already filed appeals against previous judicial rulings against him.
