حسم ناصر الخليفي، رئيس نادي باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي، موقفه من التكهنات التي ربطت اسمه بسباق رئاسة الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «فيفا»، مؤكداً عدم رغبته في تولي المنصب أو الترشح لمنافسة الرئيس الحالي جياني إنفانتينو.

وقال الخليفي، خلال مؤتمر صحفي أعقب الاجتماع السنوي لمجموعة أندية كرة القدم الأوروبية في العاصمة الدنماركية كوبنهاغن، الثلاثاء: «ليس لدي أي اهتمام على الإطلاق بالفيفا، ولا أي أجندة أو طموح لتولي منصب هناك».

وأضاف رئيس النادي الباريسي: «لا أعتقد أنني الشخص المناسب لهذا المنصب، وبصراحة لا أريد توليه. أنا مستمتع بما أفعله حالياً، وأعتقد أن الفيفا ليس مناسباً لي».

ويأتي موقف الخليفي في وقت تشهد فيه كرة القدم الأوروبية تحركات للبحث عن مرشح ينافس إنفانتينو في الانتخابات المقبلة لرئاسة «فيفا»، في ظل توتر سياسي متزايد داخل منظومة كرة القدم الدولية.

ويرأس الخليفي أيضاً مجموعة أندية كرة القدم الأوروبية، ويشغل عضوية اللجنة التنفيذية للاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم «يويفا»، الذي يقود جهود البحث عن منافس لإنفانتينو، بعد الجدل الذي أثارته خطط مرتبطة ببيع حصص من عوائد بطولات كأس العالم المستقبلية لمستثمرين من القطاع الخاص.

وتعرضت خطة إنفانتينو لإنشاء شركة تابعة لـ«فيفا» بقيمة مليارات الدولارات للرفض بعد أيام من الكشف عنها، في وقت يقترب فيه الموعد النهائي لتقديم المرشحين لمنافسة رئيس الاتحاد الدولي، والمقرر بعد نحو سبعة أسابيع.

ويؤكد الخليفي بذلك أن تحركات الأندية الأوروبية للبحث عن منافس لإنفانتينو لن تتوقف عند اسمه، بعدما وضع حداً للتكهنات بشأن إمكانية دخوله السباق.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of the French club Paris Saint-Germain, has clarified his position regarding the speculation linking his name to the race for the presidency of the International Football Federation "FIFA," confirming his lack of desire to hold the position or run against the current president Gianni Infantino.

Al-Khelaifi stated during a press conference following the annual meeting of the European football clubs in the Danish capital Copenhagen on Tuesday: "I have no interest at all in FIFA, nor any agenda or ambition to hold a position there."

The president of the Parisian club added: "I don't think I am the right person for this position, and frankly, I don't want to take it. I am enjoying what I am currently doing, and I believe that FIFA is not suitable for me."

Al-Khelaifi's stance comes at a time when European football is witnessing movements to find a candidate to compete with Infantino in the upcoming elections for the FIFA presidency, amid increasing political tension within the international football system.

Al-Khelaifi also heads the group of European football clubs and is a member of the executive committee of the European Football Association "UEFA," which is leading efforts to find a competitor for Infantino, following the controversy surrounding plans related to selling shares of future World Cup revenues to private sector investors.

Infantino's plan to establish a subsidiary of "FIFA" worth billions of dollars was rejected just days after its announcement, as the deadline for submitting candidates to compete for the presidency of the international federation approaches in about seven weeks.

Thus, Al-Khelaifi confirms that the movements of European clubs to find a competitor for Infantino will not stop at his name, after he put an end to speculation about the possibility of his entry into the race.
