أثارت الشابة المصرية أسماء صالح، المولودة في بورسعيد، موجة واسعة من الجدل عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي بعدما أعلنت عبر صفحتها على (فيسبوك) رغبتها في الزواج؛ لتتلقى خلال أيام قليلة أكثر من ألفي طلب ارتباط، لكنها أكدت أنها لم ترد على أيٍّ منها، مشيرة إلى أن فكرتها فُهمت بشكل خاطئ.

وقالت أسماء في تدوينة: إن هدفها كان الدفاع عن حق الفتيات في التعبير عن رغبتهن في الزواج دون أن يُنظر إليهن نظرة تنتقص من الحياء أو الكرامة، مضيفة: «أنا مش بنت تفتقد الحياء»، مؤكدة أن إعلان الرغبة في الزواج لا يقلل من شأن أي فتاة.

وفي خضم الجدل، علّق الداعية الشيخ مظهر شاهين مؤكدًا أن مبادرة الفتاة بالتعبير عن رغبتها في الزواج لا تتضمن أي حرمة شرعية، موضحًا أن الإشكال يكمن في طريقة التواصل وما قد يترتب عليها من استغلال أو تجاوزات. وأشار إلى أن الفتاة التي ترى شخصًا مناسبًا يمكنها أن تبادر بالسؤال عنه أو إرسال من يتحدث إليه، على أن تنتقل الإجراءات لاحقًا إلى التواصل الرسمي عبر الأسرة وولي الأمر.

وحذّر شاهين من أن الإعلانات المفتوحة عبر الإنترنت قد تجذب أشخاصًا لا يبحثون عن زواج جاد، مؤكدًا ضرورة وجود ضوابط تحمي الفتيات من أي استغلال محتمل. وأضاف أن هناك فرقًا واضحًا بين الحكم الشرعي والعادات المجتمعية، فبعض الأمور تكون مباحة شرعًا بينما يرفضها المجتمع لأنها تخالف ما اعتاد عليه، مشددًا على أن الحلال لا يصبح حرامًا لمجرد رفض البعض له.

وبين دفاع أسماء عن جرأتها، ورأي الداعية الذي أنصفها شرعًا، يستمر الجدل حول المبادرة التي فتحت بابًا واسعًا للنقاش حول نظرة المجتمع لخطوات الفتيات في التعبير عن رغباتهن.

The young Egyptian woman Asmaa Saleh, born in Port Said, sparked a wide wave of controversy on social media after she announced on her (Facebook) page her desire to marry; within a few days, she received over two thousand marriage proposals, but she confirmed that she did not respond to any of them, indicating that her idea was misunderstood.

Asmaa said in a post that her goal was to defend girls' right to express their desire to marry without being looked at in a way that undermines their modesty or dignity, adding: "I am not a girl who lacks modesty," emphasizing that expressing the desire to marry does not diminish the worth of any girl.

In the midst of the controversy, the preacher Sheikh Mazhar Shaheen commented, affirming that the girl's initiative to express her desire to marry does not involve any religious prohibition, explaining that the issue lies in the method of communication and what may result from exploitation or violations. He pointed out that a girl who sees a suitable person can take the initiative to inquire about him or send someone to speak to him, with the understanding that the procedures would later transition to official communication through the family and guardian.

Shaheen warned that open advertisements online may attract individuals who are not looking for a serious marriage, stressing the need for regulations to protect girls from any potential exploitation. He added that there is a clear distinction between religious rulings and societal customs, as some matters may be permissible religiously while being rejected by society because they contradict what is customary, emphasizing that what is lawful does not become unlawful simply because some refuse it.

Between Asmaa's defense of her boldness and the preacher's opinion that justified her legally, the debate continues around the initiative that opened a wide door for discussion about society's view on girls' steps in expressing their desires.
