Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the sixth edition of the International Mining Conference will be held from the 4th to the 6th of Sha'ban 1448 AH, corresponding to the 12th to the 14th of January 2027 AD, in Riyadh, under the slogan "Global Cooperation for Resilient Mineral Supply Chains," organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.

A Global Platform for Joint Action

The sixth edition comes as a continuation of the success of the first five editions in establishing the conference as a global platform for dialogue and joint action in the mining and minerals sector; the fifth edition, held in January 2026, witnessed the participation of representatives from 91 countries and more than 64 governmental and non-governmental organizations, alongside over 21,500 participants and visitors from 175 countries. It also saw the signing of 132 agreements and memoranda of understanding worth over 100 billion riyals. Thus, the total announced during the previous five editions reached 398 agreements and memoranda of understanding, with a total value exceeding 282 billion riyals.

Mobilizing Finance and Implementing Projects

The sixth edition focuses on transitioning from building consensus to mobilizing finance, technologies, and implementing projects, by transforming shared priorities into fundable and executable opportunities, which will increase mineral supplies and accelerate the development of value chains within the Kingdom and across emerging supply regions in the major mining area extending from Africa to West and Central Asia and Latin America. The international ministerial meeting will lead the activities of the sixth edition, with the participation of ministers and high-level representatives from governments, alongside leaders from the mining industry, multilateral organizations, and academic and financial institutions; to align priorities and identify common action pathways.

Connecting Investors with Quality Projects

The conference will include the "Access to Finance" event; to showcase investment opportunities within and outside the Kingdom, financing tools, and cooperation models, connecting investors with quality projects. The sessions of the "Sector Status" program will extend from the "Future Minerals Report," providing forecasts for global commodity markets, market trends, and strategic insights supporting the decisions of governments, industry leaders, and investors.

Specialized leadership meetings will discuss the challenges of mineral supply resilience and develop practical solutions that enhance the reliability of supply chains and their ability to meet global demand, alongside the conference's focus on attracting finance, accelerating project development, and shortening the timelines required to transition to production, through partnerships that bring together governments, industry leaders, investors, technology providers, and end users.

Highlighting Mining and Industrial Opportunities

Throughout its first five editions, the International Mining Conference has contributed to shifting the discussion on the future of minerals from aspirations and consensus to partnerships, investments, and projects, highlighting mining and industrial opportunities for the Kingdom before governments, investors, and industry leaders, and linking them with capital, technologies, and international expertise.

The conference has also kept pace with qualitative transformations in the mining sector in the Kingdom, including expanding the scope of mining opportunities through plans to launch extensive mineralized areas and belts, accelerating competitive rounds for exploration and mining licenses, and announcing major projects in metal industries such as aluminum, iron, and steel, alongside launching funds and programs that support industrial and mining services, capacity building, and innovation.

Growth of Mining Exploration in Saudi Arabia

The development of the conference coincided with significant growth in mining exploration activity in the Kingdom; total spending on exploration rose from 205 million riyals in 2020 to nearly 1.36 billion riyals in 2025, reaching a record level, while the number of active exploration companies increased from six to 191 during the same period. In this context, the results of exploration work and geological studies in the Jabal Sayid project in the Medina region were recently announced by the Minister of Energy, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, during the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna; revealing estimated resources of about 114 million tons of ore, containing high concentrations of rare earth elements, especially heavy elements, accompanied by promising concentrations of uranium.

The International Mining Conference comes as an extension of the comprehensive mining strategy objectives, as a Saudi initiative with a global vision that brings together governments, the private sector, investors, and technology providers around executable projects; its sixth edition aims to launch a global call to diversify supply sources, develop mining capabilities, and establish a more resilient and reliable minerals system capable of meeting future requirements.
