أعلن مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي الأمريكي، الأربعاء، إ حباط مخطط لتنفيذ هجوم مسلح داخل مركز «مول أوف أمريكا» التجاري، بعد توقيف شاب يبلغ 18 عامًا، قالت السلطات إنه كان يستعد لتنفيذ هجوم.
وبحسب شكوى اتحادية وصفها المدعي العام الأمريكي دانييل روزين، كان الشاب شيخ الدين عبد الله محمود تحت التحقيق منذ نحو عامين، وخضع لمراقبة السلطات عبر تواصله مع مخبر سري، قبل أن يبيع له عملاء فيدراليون بندقية هجومية وذخيرة.
وأوضحت الشكوى أن محمود أوقف الثلاثاء في حديقة عامة، بعدما دفع 600 دولار إلى موظف سري في مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي، كان يتظاهر بأنه عضو في تنظيم «داعش»، مقابل بندقية من طراز «إيه كيه-47» و200 طلقة ذخيرة.
ووفق الوثائق القضائية، أكد محمود خلال رسائل نصية مع مصدر سري تابع لمكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي عزمه تنفيذ هجوم بهدف قتل أشخاص، في إطار مخطط قالت السلطات إنها تمكنت من إحباطه قبل تنفيذه.
The American Federal Bureau of Investigation announced on Wednesday the thwarting of a plot to carry out an armed attack inside the "Mall of America," after the arrest of an 18-year-old young man, whom authorities said was preparing to execute the attack.
According to a federal complaint described by U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen, the young man, Sheikh al-Din Abdullah Mahmoud, had been under investigation for about two years and was monitored by authorities through his communication with a confidential informant, before federal agents sold him an assault rifle and ammunition.
The complaint clarified that Mahmoud was arrested on Tuesday in a public park after he paid $600 to a secret employee of the FBI, who was pretending to be a member of the "ISIS" organization, in exchange for an AK-47 rifle and 200 rounds of ammunition.
According to court documents, Mahmoud confirmed during text messages with a confidential source affiliated with the FBI his intention to carry out an attack aimed at killing people, as part of a plot that authorities said they managed to thwart before its execution.
