خلف باب مغلق بقفل من الخارج، كانت سيدة مصرية في عقدها الثاني تخوض معركتها الأخيرة بين ألسنة اللهب التي التهمت جسدها أثناء نومها على الأريكة، في واقعة حوّلت هدوء أطراف المنطقة إلى مسرح تحقيقات جنائية كشفت مأساة حاول الزوج كتمانها داخل منزل الزوجية.

غير أن استمرار الصرخات القادمة من خلف الباب المغلق زاد الشكوك، ليقرر الجيران كسره بالقوة، وحينها صدموا بمشهد الزوجة والنيران تلتهم أطرافها وتغطي أجزاء واسعة من جسدها وهي عاجزة عن الهرب.

عملية الإنقاذ السريعة نقلت الضحية في حالة حرجة نحو المستشفى، لتكشف والدتها لاحقاً عن سلسلة طويلة من الاعتداءات والانتهاكات التي سترتها ابنتها للحفاظ على بيتها، من بينها إصابة سابقة في الرأس أفصحت عنها خلال استجوابها الأولي قبل أن تفقد وعيها.

وسرعان ما تحفظت الأجهزة الأمنية المصرية على الزوج واقتادته للتحقيق بناءً على الشبهات القوية وأقوال شهود العيان واتهامات عائلة الضحية، فيما أمرت النيابة العامة بانتداب الطب الشرعي والمعمل الجنائي لمعاينة مسرح الحادثة وفحص أسباب وكيفية اشتعال النيران في جسد الزوجة النائمة، للتحقق من استخدام مواد حارقة أو أخرى تساهم في تعجيل الاشتعال وحسم المسؤولية الجنائية.
