على مدى زمن طويل، حاول بعض الكتاب والإعلاميين وأصحاب الأطروحات الاجتماعية من العرب وغيرهم، تكريس صورة ذهنية عن الشعب السعودي بأنه شعب دِعةٍ واسترخاء وليونة، غارق في ترف الحياة بسبب ثروة النفط، وأنه غير متعود على مواجهة الأزمات، ولا يستطيع تحمل الظروف الصعبة كظروف الحرب والإرهاب ومحاولات زعزعة أمنه. يرونه شعباً لم يمر بسياق التطور الطبيعي للحياة، انتقل فجأة من حياة الخيمة والجمل إلى حياة المدنية والرفاهية التي ذاب بين تفاصيلها حتى سلبته القدرة على تحمّل ومواجهة الشدائد، وبالتالي سوف يسقط في أول اختبار حقيقي لصلابته.

هذه الصورة النمطية، التي تم العمل طويلاً على ترسيخها، أثبت التأريخ القديم والجديد أنها خاطئة ومكذوبة تماماً. الشعب السعودي شارك ببسالة مع الملك المؤسس في توحيد المملكة بخوض حروب عديدة، ابتداءً من فتحه لمدينة الرياض وانتهاءً بإعلان المسمى الرسمي «المملكة العربية السعودية»، بعد جمع شتات أراضيها وشعبها. على مدى أكثر من أربعة عقود، كان السعودي صاحب الجمل والخيمة يمتشق سلاحه في حروب وجودية شرسة، سالت فيها دماء غزيرة إيماناً بمشروع الملك عبدالعزيز في استعادة دولة راسخة في التأريخ، وتأسيس مرحلتها الثالثة التي نعيش فيها الآن. كان كل فرد مع الملك عبدالعزيز مقاتلاً شرساً، لأنه سليل فرسان أبطال يعرفهم التأريخ جيداً، يتساوى لديهم الموت والحياة عند الدفاع عن أرضهم ووطنهم. أولئك كانوا نماذج لكل من سكنوا هذه الأرض، رجال البسالة والإقدام والشجاعة.

ذلك الجيل لم ينجب أجيالاً رخوة، فالسعودي الذي عاش بعدهم رفاه الحياة، أثبت أن جينات القوة والثبات تجري بكثافة في دمه. تم اختبار السعوديين مرات عديدة منذ تأسيس المملكة وصولاً إلى الآن. حروب، مؤامرات، إرهاب، اعتداءات، لكن شعب الحياة المدنية الحديثة، أثبت أنه مقاتل استثنائي في سبيل وطنه بكل الوسائل، لا يعرف الخوف والهلع، ولا التردد والإحجام.

التجربة التي نمر بها الآن، هي أصدق دليل على ذلك. صواريخ الإرهاب تتساقط على أكثر من مدينة والشعب السعودي يعيش تفاصيل حياته بشكل طبيعي، يطبّق تعليمات الحذر لكنه لا يشعر بالخوف بحكم طبيعته أولاً، لأنه مطمئن إلى القوة التي تحميه من أبنائه. لا يمكن إرهاب الفرد السعودي أو زعزعة يقينه في الذين يحمون سماءه وترابه ومقدراته. الشعب الذي عاش حياة الخيمة والجمل ثم انتقل إلى ناطحات السحاب وعصر الفضاء والتقنيات المتقدمة والعلوم الحديثة، لم يتعرض إلى تغيير في جيناته المكتنزة بكل أشكال الشجاعة والثبات والاستبسال في سبيل وطنه. ولهذا سوف نتجاوز كل المنعطفات مهما كانت خطورتها بمشيئة الله، ثم بتماسك شعب مؤمن بوطنه وقيادته وقضاياه العادلة.

For a long time, some writers, journalists, and social theorists from Arabs and others have tried to establish a mental image of the Saudi people as a group characterized by ease, relaxation, and softness, immersed in the luxury of life due to oil wealth, and unaccustomed to facing crises, unable to endure difficult circumstances such as war, terrorism, and attempts to undermine their security. They see them as a people who have not gone through the natural course of life development, suddenly transitioning from a life of tents and camels to a life of modernity and prosperity, which has made them lose the ability to endure and confront adversities, and thus they will fail at the first real test of their resilience.

This stereotype, which has been long established, has been proven by both ancient and modern history to be completely false and fabricated. The Saudi people bravely participated with the founding king in unifying the kingdom by engaging in numerous wars, starting from the conquest of Riyadh to the declaration of the official name "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," after gathering its lands and people. For more than four decades, the Saudi, who was once a camel owner living in a tent, wielded his weapon in fierce existential wars, shedding abundant blood in faith in King Abdulaziz's project to restore a state firmly rooted in history and to establish its third phase, which we are living in now. Every individual with King Abdulaziz was a fierce fighter because he was a descendant of heroic knights well-known in history, where death and life are equal when defending their land and homeland. Those were the models for all who inhabited this land, men of valor, daring, and courage.

That generation did not give birth to weak generations; the Saudis who lived after them in luxury have proven that the genes of strength and resilience run thick in their blood. Saudis have been tested many times since the establishment of the kingdom until now. Wars, conspiracies, terrorism, assaults, yet the people of modern civil life have proven to be exceptional fighters for their homeland by all means, knowing neither fear nor panic, nor hesitation or reluctance.

The experience we are going through now is the truest evidence of that. Terrorist rockets are falling on more than one city, and the Saudi people live their lives normally, applying precautionary instructions but feeling no fear due to their nature first and foremost, as they are reassured by the strength that protects them from their own. The individual Saudi cannot be terrorized or have his conviction shaken in those who protect his sky, land, and resources. The people who lived a life of tents and camels and then transitioned to skyscrapers and the space age, advanced technologies, and modern sciences have not undergone a change in their genes, which are filled with all forms of courage, resilience, and steadfastness for the sake of their homeland. Therefore, we will overcome all turning points, no matter how dangerous they may be, by God's will, and then by the cohesion of a people who believe in their homeland, leadership, and just causes.
