كشفت عملية أمنية واسعة في مدينة كايفانو قرب نابولي عن شبكة من الأموال والأسلحة والمقتنيات الفاخرة، بعدما عثرت السلطات الإيطالية على نحو 3.6 مليون دولار مخبأة داخل جدران وأرضيات وأثاث إحدى الشقق، بالتزامن مع توقيف 34 شخصًا للاشتباه في ارتباطهم بأنشطة إجرامية.
وقالت شرطة الكارابينيري العسكرية في نابولي إن وحدات مكافحة المافيا عثرت على الأموال داخل رزم من فئة 50 يورو، كانت مخبأة في أماكن مختلفة من المنزل. ووفق السلطات، جرى تغليف الأوراق النقدية بالسيلوفان وترتيبها بعناية أسفل بلاط الأرضيات والجدران، إلى جانب أدراج مخفية داخل خزائن الملابس.
ونُقلت الأموال المصادرة في دلاء بلاستيكية إلى سيارة مصفحة، فيما كشفت العملية أيضًا عن 11 ساعة من طراز رولكس، إضافة إلى أسلحة وأدوات يُعتقد أنها مرتبطة بتجارة المخدرات، بحسب شبكة «CNN».
وجاءت المداهمة ضمن عملية أمنية استمرت عدة أشهر، وأشرف عليها المدعي العام لمكافحة المافيا في نابولي، نيكولا غراتيري، الذي أوضح أن التحقيقات شملت التنصت على هواتف محمولة استخدمها أفراد من عصابات موجودين داخل السجون، بعدما تمكن أقاربهم من تهريبها إليهم.
وقال غراتيري إن أهمية العملية تتضح من حجم المضبوطات، مشيرًا إلى مصادرة 3.2 مليون يورو نقدًا من منزل واحد، إلى جانب ساعات ثمينة.
وأفادت السلطات بأن التحقيقات استفادت أيضًا من معلومات قدمها مخبرون إلى المدعين العامين مقابل الحصول على الحماية.
وبحسب غراتيري، ينتمي الموقوفون إلى عائلة أنجيلينو، التي وسعت نفوذها في كايفانو إلى حد خضوع الإدارة المحلية لإدارة قضائية العام الماضي.
وتأتي العملية في منطقة كانت محورًا لمبادرة أطلقتها حكومة رئيسة الوزراء جورجيا ميلوني عام 2023، تحت اسم «نموذج كايفانو»، بهدف تجديد المناطق الحضرية ومواجهة الجريمة وتوفير بدائل للشباب عن الانخراط في أنشطة غير قانونية.
وقال وزير شؤون مجلس الوزراء ألفريدو مانتوفانو حينها إن المبادرة تستهدف تطوير نموذج للتدخل يبدأ في كايفانو، مع إمكانية تطبيقه لاحقًا في مناطق أخرى تعاني من مشكلات مماثلة، بما يشمل الحد من جنوح الأحداث والحد من انتشار تجارة المخدرات.
وعقب توقيف 34 شخصًا في العملية الأخيرة، انتقد عدد من أعضاء أحزاب المعارضة المبادرة، معتبرين أن استمرار نشاط الشبكات الإجرامية في المنطقة يثير تساؤلات بشأن نتائجها.
ووفق بيان لقوات الدرك الإيطالية، يواجه الموقوفون اتهامات بالانتماء إلى عصابة إجرامية والاتجار بالمخدرات والابتزاز وحيازة مواد مخدرة بقصد الاتجار.
وكشفت التحقيقات، إلى جانب المضبوطات، عن آلية عمل الشبكة، التي وصفها غراتيري بأنها ذات طابع «ريادي»، إذ كان أفرادها يتناوبون على تنفيذ أنشطة إجرامية مزعومة، من بينها الاتجار بالمخدرات وعمليات الابتزاز.
وأعلنت السلطات أن الأموال المصادرة ستُحوّل إلى «صندوق العدالة» في إيطاليا، المخصص لدعم ضحايا الجريمة المنظمة.
A large security operation in the city of Caivano near Naples revealed a network of money, weapons, and luxury items, after Italian authorities found around 3.6 million dollars hidden inside the walls, floors, and furniture of one of the apartments, coinciding with the arrest of 34 individuals suspected of being linked to criminal activities.
The Carabinieri military police in Naples stated that anti-mafia units discovered the money inside bundles of 50 euro notes, which were hidden in various places within the home. According to the authorities, the banknotes were wrapped in cellophane and carefully arranged beneath the floor tiles and walls, along with hidden drawers inside wardrobes.
The seized money was transferred in plastic buckets to an armored vehicle, while the operation also uncovered 11 Rolex watches, in addition to weapons and tools believed to be linked to drug trafficking, according to CNN.
The raid was part of a security operation that lasted several months, overseen by the anti-mafia prosecutor in Naples, Nicola Gratteri, who explained that the investigations included wiretapping mobile phones used by gang members inside prisons, after their relatives managed to smuggle them in.
Gratteri stated that the significance of the operation is evident from the scale of the seizures, noting the confiscation of 3.2 million euros in cash from a single home, along with valuable watches.
Authorities reported that the investigations also benefited from information provided by informants to the prosecutors in exchange for protection.
According to Gratteri, those arrested belong to the Angelino family, which has expanded its influence in Caivano to the extent that local administration was placed under judicial management last year.
The operation comes in an area that was the focus of an initiative launched by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's government in 2023, under the name "Caivano Model," aimed at urban renewal, combating crime, and providing alternatives for youth to engage in illegal activities.
At the time, Minister for Cabinet Affairs Alfredo Mantovano stated that the initiative aims to develop an intervention model starting in Caivano, with the possibility of applying it later in other areas facing similar issues, including reducing juvenile delinquency and curbing drug trafficking.
Following the arrest of 34 individuals in the recent operation, several opposition party members criticized the initiative, arguing that the continued activity of criminal networks in the area raises questions about its effectiveness.
According to a statement from the Italian Carabinieri, the detainees face charges of belonging to a criminal organization, drug trafficking, extortion, and possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.
The investigations revealed, in addition to the seizures, the operational mechanism of the network, which Gratteri described as having a "pioneering" nature, as its members took turns carrying out alleged criminal activities, including drug trafficking and extortion.
The authorities announced that the seized funds will be transferred to the "Justice Fund" in Italy, designated to support victims of organized crime.
