تواصلاً لتناول «عكاظ» لحيثيات قضية إيقاف نشاط عدد من الألعاب المختلفة في النادي، كشفت مصادر «عكاظ» عن تطور كبير في ملف عودة نشاط لعبة كرة السلة في النادي، بدعم وإشراف مباشر من الاتحاد السعودي لكرة السلة الذي يواصل سعيه الحثيث في هذا الجانب، حيث أفادت المصادر إلى موافقة رئيس اللجنة التنفيذية في النادي الأهلي أحمد الشنقيطي على التراجع عن القرار السابق بإيقاف نشاط لعبة كرة السلة.

وكانت «عكاظ» قد انفردت في 13 سبتمبر الماضي بإعلان سعي الاتحاد السعودي لكرة السلة الحثيث لعودة اللعبة إلى النادي، حيث بدأت الاجتماعات فعلياً بين اتحاد اللعبة ومجلس إدارة شركة النادي منذ ما يقارب الخمسة أسابيع، فيما أكدت المصادر إلى أن اجتماعاً مرتقباً سيعقد غداً ما بين مسؤولي اتحاد اللعبة والرئيس التنفيذي للنادي الأهلي فابريس بوكيه، حيث سيشهد الاجتماع وضع اللمسات الأخيرة على التفاهمات بين الطرفين بشأن إعادة اللعبة مجدداً وترتيب كافة الإجراءات اللازمة لذلك.

الجدير بالذكر أن «عكاظ» كانت قد انفردت بفتح ملف قضية تعليق نشاط الألعاب المختلفة في النادي الأهلي في 25 مايو الماضي قبل أن يعلن النادي عن قراره بتعليق نشاط الفريق الأول في لعبة كرة السلة وكرة اليد في النادي والاكتفاء بلعبة كرة الطائرة في الألعاب المختلفة.

Continuing its coverage of the details surrounding the suspension of various sports activities at the club, sources from "Okaz" revealed a significant development in the file regarding the return of basketball activities at the club, with direct support and oversight from the Saudi Basketball Federation, which continues its diligent efforts in this regard. The sources indicated that the Chairman of the Executive Committee at Al-Ahli Club, Ahmed Al-Shanqeeti, has agreed to reverse the previous decision to suspend basketball activities.

“Okaz” had previously reported on September 13 that the Saudi Basketball Federation was diligently working to return the game to the club, as meetings have been actively taking place between the federation and the club's board of directors for nearly five weeks. Sources confirmed that a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow between the officials of the federation and the CEO of Al-Ahli Club, Fabrice Bouquey, where the meeting will finalize the agreements between the two parties regarding the reinstatement of the game and arrange all necessary procedures for that.

It is worth mentioning that "Okaz" was the first to open the file on the suspension of various sports activities at Al-Ahli Club on May 25, before the club announced its decision to suspend the first team activities in basketball and handball, opting to continue only with volleyball in the various sports.
