France is witnessing a new day of widespread student protests today (Tuesday), with movements spreading across many cities and classes disrupted in hundreds of educational institutions, amid significant security reinforcements imposed by the authorities due to tensions and acts of violence accompanying the wave of protests over the past few days.
High school students are demanding improvements in the conditions of educational institutions and an increase in resources allocated for education, alongside addressing the issue of teacher shortages and the deteriorating condition of some school buildings, especially in working-class areas, as well as opposing the pressures and disparities associated with the Parcoursup platform for higher education enrollment.
According to the newspaper "Le Monde," university students, unions, and teachers are expected to join the movements in several regions, in an attempt to broaden the scope of the protests and transform them into a larger youth and union movement.

Tens of Thousands in the Streets and Security Reinforcements
The authorities expect tens of thousands of high school students to take to the streets across the country, while security forces have deployed large numbers of police and gendarmerie personnel in anticipation of renewed violence and vandalism.
These measures come after days of tensions that saw several students and security personnel injured, in addition to material damage and widespread arrests.
According to the French Prime Minister's office, 215 students have been injured since the beginning of the protest movement, noting that the vast majority of these injuries occurred either as a result of accidental incidents or due to other individuals outside the ranks of the demonstrators.

The protests over the past few days have witnessed serious incidents that sparked widespread political debate about the authorities' handling of the demonstrations.
In the city of Lens, a 15-year-old teenager sustained severe injuries that led to the loss of one of his hands due to a bomb explosion during Monday's protests.
In Tours, a 16-year-old student lost the ability to see in one eye during a school closure operation last week, while the public prosecutor mentioned injuries "consistent" with the use of an LBD projectile, which is the weapon used by the French police in maintaining order.
School Closures in Paris and Other Cities
In the capital, Paris, movements began in the early hours of the morning, with several schools experiencing closures and entry bans.
The movements included schools such as Sophie-Germain, while barriers were erected in front of the Émile-Boucher and Louis-le-Grand schools using trash containers and barriers to disrupt access to the institutions.
At the Émile-Boucher school, a gathering was scheduled with the participation of union members and workers from the "Lagny" warehouse, before a march in the capital.
The movements also extended to the higher education sector, as the ENS Paris-Saclay school in Gif-sur-Yvette announced its closure in solidarity with the high school students' protests, canceling classes from the early hours of Tuesday.

Universities Join the Protests
In the city of Rennes, Rennes 2 University voted to close the college in solidarity with high school students, marking a new indication of the expanding protest movement from schools to universities.
Other cities are witnessing similar movements, while authorities have imposed restrictions on gatherings around several schools.
In Brest and Quimper, judicial authorities maintained a ban on gatherings near 15 high schools in the Finistère region, while the administrative court in Rennes rejected a request to suspend the ban issued by local authorities.
Demonstrations in Southern France and Overseas
Marches are scheduled to take place in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, including a demonstration in Marseille at 10 a.m., along with movements in Arles and Aix-en-Provence.
Students, teachers, and union members are expected to participate in these movements as part of calls to unify protests across different sectors of society.
In Réunion Island, the majority of schools remained open despite calls for protests and tensions in the area on Monday, while classes were shifted to remote learning in the Stella and La Chaloupe Saint-Leu institutions.
In Mayotte, disturbances were reported in several schools, particularly in Kawéni, Mamoudzou, Sada, Tsararano, Petit-Terre, and Bandrélé, amid support from educational unions for the movement and calls for peaceful participation, including through strikes.
"Joint Platform" Between School and University Students
In an attempt to unify demands, student organizations, unions, and associations announced a joint platform titled "Youth Demands... Ten Urgent Measures."
The initiative aims to present a set of demands to the government as a basis for dialogue and action, calling on unions, organizations, and the public to support it.
This step reflects an increasing convergence between high school and university students, as activists seek to transform the protests from local movements linked to educational institutions into a broader youth movement.
About 590 Schools Affected by the Movements
Approximately 590 high schools out of nearly 3,700 have been affected by the protests across France on Monday, on the eve of the national mobilization called for Tuesday.
In recent weeks, students have raised slogans focusing on their educational and professional future, improving educational conditions, and opposing the university admission system, in addition to criticisms of study conditions and treatment, investigating incidents related to the behavior of police officers and their use of force during the protests.
Some sectors of the student movement are seeking to expand the scope of the movement by involving workers and university students, which could turn the protests into a multi-sector social wave.
More than 6,000 Arrests and 10 Police Investigations
In another development, the French Ministry of the Interior announced the opening of 10 investigations by the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) since the beginning of the protests.
The IGPN, known in the media as the "police of the police," is responsible for investigating incidents related to police behavior and the use of force.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated that he is ready to appear before the relevant committees in the National Assembly or the Senate to answer questions regarding the instructions issued to security forces, the doctrine of maintaining order, and the conditions of police and gendarmerie intervention during protests.
According to the ministry, the number of arrests since September 28 has reached 6,059, while 715 police and gendarmerie personnel have been injured since the beginning of the movements.
The Government Faces a Security and Political Test
The developments place the French government before a dual test; on one hand, it faces increasing demands from students to improve educational conditions and provide resources and teachers, and on the other hand, the debate is escalating regarding the security forces' handling of protests, especially after several students were injured.
As universities, unions, and teachers join the protests, attention is turning to the authorities' ability to contain the movement and prevent it from transforming into a broader wave of protests, amid students' insistence on their demands and increasing calls to unify movements among various youth and worker groups.
