فيما أعلن وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي أن بلاده مستعدة للتوصل إلى "حل عادل" مع الولايات المتحدة، وأنها ما زالت جادة بشأن الدبلوماسية والحل السلمي، نقلت وسائل إعلام إيرانية عن رئيس البرلمان محمد باقر قاليباف قوله: إن مضيق هرمز "لن يعاد فتحه ما لم تتم تلبية شروط إيران".

وقال كبير المفاوضين الإيرانيين، اليوم الأحد: مواقفنا واضحة ولن يعاد فتح مضيق هرمز ما لم تتحقق شروطنا ال7 وفقا لمذكرة التفاهم" التي وقعت في يونيو الماضي. واعتبر أن الولايات المتحدة "لم يعد بإمكانها المماطلة لكسب الوقت"، وفق قوله.

من جانبه، أعلن مسؤول أمريكي أن الولايات المتحدة طردت دبلوماسيين إيرانيين كانا ضمن وفد طهران المشارك في اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، لعدم امتثالهما لطلب سابق بمغادرة البلاد، بحسب ما كشف موقع "أكسيوس". وأضاف المسؤول، أمس (السبت)، أن "وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو يعني ما يقول.. لقد عُثر على عضوين آخرين من الوفد الإيراني لا يزالان في نيويورك بعد فترة طويلة من انتهاء اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة.. وقد تم طردهما الآن من البلاد".

واعتبر الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أن إيران "تخلت فعلياً عن أي خطط لامتلاك سلاح نووي"، مؤكداً أنه "سيتخذ قراراً بشأنها قريباً". وأضاف في تصريحات للصحفيين أن الولايات المتحدة ستتوصل إلى اتفاق مع إيران "سواء بالطريقة السهلة أو الصعبة". وتوقع أن أسعار النفط ستبدأ في الانخفاض.

وكان مسؤول إيراني في طهران قد وصف لوكالة "بلومبيرغ" الوضع الاقتصادي في إيران بأنه "مؤلم للغاية، لكن البلاد تتكيف معه". وأضاف أن طهران تستعد لحملة قصف أمريكية جديدة، قد تكون أكبر من سابقتها، لكنها "تملك القدرة على الرد"، على حد قوله. وأشارت الوكالة الأمريكية إلى أن التضخم في إيران وصل إلى مستويات قياسية إذ بلغ نحو 90%، مع خنق الحصار الأمريكي لصادرات طهران من النفط الخام.

Two other members of the Iranian delegation were still in New York long after the United Nations General Assembly meetings ended... They have now been expelled from the country."

U.S. President Donald Trump considered that Iran "has effectively abandoned any plans to acquire nuclear weapons," affirming that he "will make a decision on it soon." He added in statements to reporters that the United States will reach an agreement with Iran "either the easy way or the hard way." He anticipated that oil prices would start to decline.

An Iranian official in Tehran had described the economic situation in Iran to Bloomberg as "extremely painful, but the country is adapting to it." He added that Tehran is preparing for a new American bombing campaign, which could be larger than the previous one, but it "has the capability to respond," according to him. The American agency noted that inflation in Iran has reached record levels, standing at about 90%, with the American blockade choking Tehran's crude oil exports.
