وبعد مداولات معقدة استمرت في أروقة القضاء، أغلقت محكمة مقاطعة «جاكسون» الملف رسمياً، حيث جرى التوصل إلى اتفاق قضائي أقرت بموجبه الأم بالذنب في تهمة تعريض سلامة طفلة للخطر والتسبب في وفاتها، مقابل إسقاط تهمة القتل العمد من الدرجة الأولى، ليصدر الحكم النهائي بسجنها لمدة 13 عاماً.
