كان همام الهمامي طفلاً يطارد الكرة في ملاعب أستراليا، قبل أن تقوده الموهبة إلى أكاديميات أوروبا، ومنها إلى الملاعب السعودية، ثم إلى قميص المنتخب ومنصة التتويج الخليجي. وبين تلك المحطات، تشكّلت شخصية لاعب في الـ22 من عمره، جمع في كأس الخليج بين فرحة اللقب وجائزة أفضل لاعب، ليحوّل سنوات من السفر والتجارب والتدرّج إلى لحظة أعلن فيها عن نفسه أمام جماهير الكرة السعودية، وفتح باباً جديداً في مسيرته مع الأخضر.

وقال الهمامي في حديث خاص لـ«عكاظ»: «الجمهور هو الداعم الأول لنا، ونشكر قيادتنا على الدعم السخي الذي يحظى به المنتخب، والجماهير تعني لنا الشيء الكثير، ونتطلع دائماً إلى تقديم ما يسعدهم».

ومع اتساع تجربته الكروية، جاءت محطة جديدة عبر برنامج الابتعاث السعودي، الذي قاده إلى سلافيا براغ التشيكي، ليواصل رحلة التعلّم والاحتكاك في كرة القدم الأوروبية.

طريق الهمامي نحو النجومية لم يكن معبّداً أو مفروشا بالورود؛ فبعد تجربته الخارجية، عاد إلى المملكة، وبدأ فصلاً وتحدياً جديداً من مسيرته من بوابة نادي الاتحاد.

ومن الاتحاد إلى الخلود، الذي مثله على سبيل الإعارة، واصل اللاعب البحث عن المساحة التي تمنحه فرصة أكبر للمشاركة وإظهار قدراته، قبل أن يجد تلك المساحة بقميص الشباب.
